Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Do Not Play Here
Half of the greens are 100% unplayable and the other half are 50% playable. Just avoid this course until some day in the future if they get the greens fixed. Course should probably nbe shut down for a year.
Greens are F’d Up
Almost all greens have no grass, just hard pan dirt, sucked…

Work in Progress Greens
The greens, like almost everyone else's, took a beating with the brutal winter, extremely wet spring, and sudden hot summer we have had. A lot of them had dead, bald spots on them. There were two temporary greens, and the regular ones looked close to ready so they are working on it. Other than that the fairways were in good condition, and the staff was great as always. Unfortunately, I can confirm the bunkers are in good shape as well. The design of the course and the routing is under rated.

Still Recovering but Beautiful
The course is still recovering from the winter freeze we got earlier this year, like many other courses in the area. I have it a 5 star overall because of just how gorgeous the course is., how considerate the staff is, leaving free popsicles and cold towels for players to help with the heat. Range balls included in green fees and a gorgeous driving range to hit them on. Many of the greens still have some really bad dead spots but they are at least improving by from the last time I played here a few months back in the PTSD Hero’s tournament. Some of the fairways are still hardpan so I do think a little TLC is needed on the course aside from the obvious repairs to the greens, but even with all of that, the course is so beautiful, so well laid out and possessing the right amount of challenge for any level player that I think it deserves 5 stars to avoid deterring players from coming out here. It may not be in the best shape now but you can tell that when the course gets a little love, it is easily one of the best courses and organizations in the metroplex and surrounding areas.

The greens are what Nightmares are made of
The course is a great, challenging layout and although the tee boxes and fairways are nice, the greens are absolutely atrocious. The staff never mentioned how bad they were when I called before booking. 2 holes have make shift greens making 2 par 4’s into extremely short and easy holes. Once they get the greens under control this course will get a 5 star rating but right now it isn’t worth the drive past Pecan Valley.

Overall, I like this course.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
If it were not for the greens, I would have rated this higher.
Greens are atrocious with many patches of sand on them.
This made it extremely difficult to putt and added a few strokes to the score.
Price should be discounted because of this, however, they offered two bottles of water and towels in each cart.
That is not common foe public courses in the area.
That was much appreciated on a very hot day.
About 5 hours to complete the round so pace was slow.

Cool coarse but considering the quality of the greens I would say it’s worth $30-$35 not $55-$60

Greens are unplayable
This has been my favorite course to play until today. There are only 3 greens that are playable not including the 2 temporary greens they have. Greens are not even 50% grass on the back 9

Great course, Brutal greens
This course has a great, fun, challenging layout that tests you.
Definitely need to use an app to know where the hazards are to lay up.
The ONLY downfall are the greens. They are in terrible shape after the freeze. You can’t putt or hit wedges into the greens they just roll on dead grass.

Nice course but not in good condition
The course layout was challenging and enjoyable. We understand the effect of the February freeze but the greens should have been repaired a long ti.e ago. Two temporary greens were a joke. No new grass on the greens after months and a rainy season. Would like to play again but they need a significant improvement. Pace of play was pathetic. At 4 hours just finishing 14.

Greens under conservatorship!
The course is in good shape but the greens suffered immensely from the freeze. With our patience and a Rock Star Superintendent and staff, we should see them turn the corner for the best in a few months. It is what it is as others courses greens look about the same.

Absolutely Terrible!
No grass on most of the greens...just dirt with small patches of grass. They should close down until they can get greens playable. $56 for worst condition I’ve ever seen! Stay away from this dump.

Greens were the only bad thing
Have played Whitestone over 20 times now. The course itself is in the best shape I’ve seen it. They have put a lot of work into knocking trees down and the tee boxes are great. Staff is friendly and you get free range balls with a tee time. The only thing is the greeens are horrendous. I’ve never seen it this bad here and anywhere else. 2 holes have to have temperorary greens like 50 yards before where the real greens would be, so you’re putting on fairway. I recommend this course whenever the greens are fixed

Nice course!
My first time playing this course, but will be back when I am in town. The staff was really friendly and the carts had a courtesy towel (potential rain) and bottled water, which was a nice touch on their part.

Love the layout .
I've played Whitestone for many years since it was built .We played 5-14 and we were flabbergasted at the horrible condition of this once awesome course . The fairways had very little if any grass for except for Hole #1 . The greens were a shock to see . They were all absent of a green putting surface except the 17th . They were mostly JUST DIRT !!!! They were blaming the Feb freeze . No way !!!!! Most of the courses right now have nice greens and decent fairways !! The problem is with the Course maintenance manager . Sad to see this course in such bad shape !!!!!
