Outside the City
WOW! Didn't know much about Tapatio Springs, we were looking for something a little different then our regular course. Our tee-time was 7:10, first ones off, on a morning that started with a light rain. The views and vistas around the course are incredible. After number 1, hole 2 and 3 bring water into play, and will all the rain there was plenty of it. The fairways were in really good shape, not spongie even with a week of rain on them. Greens had been recently aerated. Made it though 9 holes before the heavy rains hit, which made play nearly impossible. We plan on returning for a round in nice dry weather.
Great day on the course
We go t started about 715am and never had to wait for the group in front nor were pushed by the group in back. Course was in great shape and the greens were consistent. Last time I played, there were 3 greens that were now and had a different speed than the older greens. This time I never noticed a difference. Each hole offers a little different challenge and the scenery was great.

This is a great course and the temperature was 10 deg cooler than San Antonio.

A great course for the money.
Tapatio was in excellent condition, especially the greens. Hadn't played there for some time, but will now be a regular.

Greens need work
Great layout, great scenery, aggravating greens. Surface treatments of greens make the ball actually roll up slope at times. The practice if disrupting the surface and creating "corn rows" to putt through takes the enjoyment out of the round. Need to find a way to keep greens playable while performing routine maintenance. Other courses I've played have done the same treatments without disrupting ball roll.

We also wanted to add we are proud of the may advances we have made to the golf experience and customer satisfaction at Tapatio Springs Resort. For the benefit of all the golfers who appreciate the reviews and comments provided by Golf Advisor, the greens at Tapatio recently received a deep verticutting. Verticutting is a common maintenance practice provided for high quality greens to both increase turf density and curb the impact of plant/leaf grain. Tapatio Springs Resort is a high quality golf experience due in part to the quality turf conditions we have achieved and continue to nurture. Regular intervals of verticutting is part of our maintenance practices however, we recently applied a deeper more aggressive setting prior to the expected sustained summer temperatures. Regular verticutting depths will usually go unnoticed by the average golfer while a deep verticut may be noticed for 3-4 days. Better than the original
Let me start by saying I have been playing Tapatio since it first opened in the early 80's. We have seen it go from a beautiful course to a completely unplayable course.
We have watched the transition over the past two years, from the new Tee boxes to the new bunkers, the new irrigation system and the rebuild of several greens.
We played there on Sunday, May 15th and I promise you the course is in the best condition it has ever been in. With the new bunkers and the new irrigation system the course is in even better condition than it was when it was first built.
After the round stop off at the Ta"Patio", the new back porch that let's you look over the course and think about the round you just finished. Oh and don't forget to get the brisket nachos.
All in all a wonderful experience. Get out there now before everyone else discovers this true diamond in the hill country.
Thanks to the entire Tapatio team for all you have done to not only bring back this majestic course but to make it better than it has ever been!

Great Value
Great place to pay for a great price. Great views and a very friendly pro-shop. Greens could use some work but overall fun challenging course. Drive up from SA about once a month to play at Tapatio.

An old friend
It has been 20 years since my last time here what a beautiful layout. One green was very ruff but the rest were very playable .Enjoyed the reunion.

Scenic views on every hole!
Loved playing this course. Everything about it (e.g., staff, layout, value etc.) is top notch. If I had to find a negative, it would be that despite having plenty of people on the course (it was spring break) they did not have a drink cart making the rounds.

I've always enjoyed playing this course...scenic and testy. It's noticeable there is a lot of work going on and hopefully it will come together in a few months. The greens are spotty and a little bumpy but should improve as spring and summer arrive. I will be back!!

Very nice course
Overall a very enjoyable day of golf. The course was in great shape for late Winter/early Spring. We breezed through the front 9 without delay. When we hit the back 9, however, there were two groups waiting to tee off on #10. Don't know where they came from since we never even saw another group in front of us on the front side. The rest of the day was extremely slow and we even skipped one hole to get around a fivesome who had a cell phone problem. They could have used a Marshall.

bad experience.
the course itself is great and challenging. first time to play this course and with my luck i end up following a group of 5. the pace was very slow. it took them 15-20minutes per hole. called the front but nothing was done. end up skipping 4-9 hole and played the back nine instead. going to tee off on the 16 hole but had to wait for the ground maintenance to finish what ever he was doing in the middle of the fairway. front desk personel was not to friendly either. it was not a good day for me.

Great course for the price
Tricky course but playing more times will help with positioning off the tee.
Agree, was tricky for me also. I've played it twice, second time was a little easier. Not that the course is easy! Loved the course, the layout and had no problems with staff or anything, other then my game. O:(
