A beautiful course
We got our tee times on Golfnow and it was a bargin for this course. It was mid feb when we played and the course is just greening up. It must be spectacular in the summer time. The course was very challenging for me and my wife but very enjoyable. The surronding houses make for great viewing between shots. The pace of play was a little over 4 hours so that was fine. We did not play the ridge 9. I heard that is even more challenging. We will be back for sure.
Try the Ridges
Went twice in a week to Tapatio and ended up playing all 27 holes. Almost all of the course is in great shape with the Ridges 9 giving the best challenge and views. I'll be going back any time golfnow has a firesale.
Challenging and Beautiful
This course was fun and challenging. The narrow fairways require careful shot selection when approaching the greens, as there are many dogleg holes. Every hole offers a beautiful view, which makes the difficult play a little less frustrating. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a really nice course to play that isn't too expensive.
Nice course...great potential
27 holes of fun. Valley (open), Lakes (water on 7 of 9) and Ridge (our favorite). Ridge had lots of blind shots, narrow landing areas, lots of elevation changes. Target golf at it's best. On #6 we had to drive up inside 80 yards just to see the top of the flagstick down below. Definite risk reward opportunities throughout the 9 holes.
We hadn't played here for well over 15 years and we were astonished at the changes. New clubhouse, restaurant, bar and proshop.
Course itself was typical for winter in South Texas. Fairways a little thin, bunkers need work (not much sand depth), greens a little rough, but puttable. Greens on the Ridge 9 were in much better shape.
It's obvious the new ownership group has already invested a LOT of money in the facilities. No reason to believe they won't continue to pump money into the golf course to protect their entire investment to date.
Overall, we see potential for a GREAT course and golf experience. We highly recommend the Ridge 9 for a golf experience not usually found in the South Texas area.
We WILL play here again... REAL SOON and often.
played on2/9/13
course was in good shape for this time of year. with this being a saturday I was surprised I was able to play as a single. I had a great time played in only 2.5 hrs staff was very friendly
..I woukd recomend this course
Great course for enjoyable round
No doubt they are trying to do a good job of making this a 5 star course. Employees are friendly and willing to show you a good time.
course was in good shape. We played in under 4 hours. Plenty of bunkers. Some long holes and plenty of trees.
I would play this course again. Most member play early and when we played there was no one in front of us and was very pleasant to play. Alot of bunker and different elevation shots.
Very good course.
Great value fun layout.
Tapatio Springs won't be mistaken any time soon for Augusta National or Pebble Beach, but it is definitely worth the price and the 4 mile winding drive from IH-10. I played the Lakes and Valley courses by myself and had a great time.
The pace of play was astounding. I played the front in a little over an hour without feeling like I was rushing. In fact, there was a twosome of older men in front of me and, while I waited on a few shots that was an exception. I played all 18 in 2 hr 30 min. I played through a couple of groups on the back and they were all very gracious and friendly. As were all of the staff both in the golf shop and the restaurant.
I got a fantastic deal on GolfNow.com. Only $26.93 for 18 holes a cart and free range balls. In my opinion, it would have been a great deal at twice the price.
The layout is both fun and challenging. There are a few pretty easy holes and a few quite hard holes with fairly long carries over hazards. The bunkers are well placed to keep you on your toes. All in all, it's a good test of your shot making and general golf skill.
I'll play there again!
Gorgeous course
This course is top notch. Beautiful scenery and challenges around every corner. We had alot of fun.
Condition and shot selection
Winter conditions are always tough to judge a course, but you can tell by the condition of the traps that they want to take care of it and i was in alot of them. Good variety of holes and shot selections.
great experience.. greens kinda spotty.
played valley and ridge courses. tight tee shots but very fair. challenging course. greens kinda spotty and inconsistent prevented 5 star. very friendly staff. great value on golfnow!
Good Resort course
Played the Ridge and Lakes nines. First time I played the Ridge. It's pretty tricked up with many blind, target type shots. Leave the driver in the bag. Course was in pretty good condition for this time of year. Greens were a little shaggy with overseed. There are better values in the area.
Tight lies and nice views
The course has 3 different courses, each being 9 holes. An interesting place to fit a golf course it has a pretty cool layout.
Beautiful hill country layout
Haven't played course in some time. Was very impressed with club house and facilities. Played mid-week and pace was perfect as a single player. All the greens were in fabulous shape, and fairways were good for Winter conditions. Club selection and shot placement is important on a number of holes, but not too challenging. (Played Lakes and Valley courses.) Will definitely get back again soon....especially look forward to the fairways greening up in the Spring. This is one of the best examples of hill country golf.
Excellent course, better than expected
This is an excellent course and it's in great condition, even at this time of year. It's a resort course and in even better condition than I expected. Fairways and greens looked great and rolled true. It's comprised of three seperate nine hole courses and you can choose which two you'd like to play. Staff was very friendly and the facilities are superb. Look forward to playing it again.
Typical course conditions for winter golf.....
Typical course conditions for winter golf in Texas. Fairways and roughs were in hibernation but the greens are in great shape. The Ridge is a shot makers dream, if you can shape a shot or have a good short game you'll love this course. I had a case of the LOFT'S but it was still fun.
This course has alot of potential, but needs attention.
This is actually a nice course, very interesting and challenging lay out, the greens are ok but everything else needs attention, the fairways are in bad shape, very confusing car paths with no signage, the great thing was I was able to play 27 holes in 41/2.
Beautiful Course
The views at Tapitio Springs are matched by the condition of the course. They provide an excellent golfing experience and the staff are extremely professional and courteous.
Pleasant area; good course with different challenges according to which 18 you play.
Played Valley & Lakes. Several very wet spots on both that seemed to be as a result of sprinklers vice showers. Time problem was a 5-some that played without any concern for pace of play. No marshall. Better map on the play cards would help "visualize" shots required for blind landings as well as potential dangers of errant left/right shots. Have played this course three times; this was the first where speed of play was an issue.
This course just continues to get nicer everyday
This course just continues to get nicer everyday
The staff is very friendly and the facilites are top notch. You really should play here if you have not been here in a while.
