a great challenging course
It was one of the most challenging courses i played. Without a gps you had to figure where and how far the greens were. I loved this course,08/ very enjoyable, looking forward to play there again. the view of the hill country golf course was beautiful and relaxing.
loved the course, just needs a little maintainence with watering
I enjoyed playing golf at Tapatio Springs. The staff was really kind, course was in good shape with the exception of a couple of holes that were dried out with the lack of rain. Golf Now was great getting us awesome rates.
Greens are always nice. 6100 yrds off the Blue Tees.
Yesterday play was slow, a tournament was going on and they didn't manage the fill in tee times very well. Fairways need some rain as do all the courses in the area. George Straight and partner might look at putting in some yardage markers, virtually none to be see. A few white stakes for the 150 mark but only here and there. Tee box's really need to be mowed, grass too high on most. For you average hacker, a decent layout, most holes par is possible and certainly birdie on a few. Some holes can be a bit long if your not strong off the tee or strong with the longer irons.
Great Course
I had never played this course before - the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The greens were in great shape, the fairways were a litle dry, but we have been in a drought. Considering all that a great experience. Thank you Golf Now and Tapatio Springs
Fun Course - bring your GPS
Played the Lakes and Valley nines. Greens were excellent and fast. Really like the layout where you could hit driver and go for it or lay back safely and still have short to medium irons in. Fairways could use some rain as there were brown sections throughout the course, but it was August in Texas. Probably spoiled but yardage markings were virtually non-existent with only a 100 and 150 yard marker next to the cart path. No markers in the fairway or on sprinkler heads. I would consider it a really good value for the green fee.
the course has great features but is not well maintained.
Lack of water to the course has left a beautiful venue in a less than desirable condition. At this time I cannot recommend it to my friends.
Great accommodations, poor golf course conditions
The Club and Condos at Tapatio are second to none, but the course is poorly designed and constantly in poor conditions. It's a shame the third nine appears to be abandoned and no longer in use. It's the nine by itself on the other side of the driving range which featured the most challenging and unique holes on the property. The greens on Lakes and Valley were in terrible condition. I know we're in a major drought but the course is drier than most in the S.A. Area.
The course design lacks overall appeal and 6,800 yards from the tips lacks any challenge. Holes lack clearly defined structure and presence from the tee. To many short gimmick holes that a create log jams due to greens being reachable from tee or par 5's that can be hit in 2 wirh a 7 iron (from the tips). the pro shop allows groups of 5-6 that creates 5 hour rounds. No excuse for that.
Overall, if course conditions improved, this would be decent retreat course due to condos. If just looking for 18 holes in the area, then there are better options closer to S.A.
Still nice
Have played this course several times. It is still in great shape and a fun, quite, place to play
Fast paced
Wow, I was blown away by the pace of play. I was playing with twosome and several foursome member groups blew by us. Great to finally play a course where people move along.
Great value and worth the drive. Played 27 holes in 5 hours.
Love this course but was disappointed the 3rd 9 hole course was closed.Had to replay Lake. Still had a great experience.
Great Hot Deal Value
Course was a great value with the GolfNow Hot Deal. Played on a steamy afternoon in about 3 hours as a single and didn't see anyone in front of me until the 8th. Fairways and tees showed a little heat stress, but were generally in very good condition. Greens were in good condition too, but had a few small burned out areas on some. The course is not hard to play without local knowledge. I can only recall one blind tee shot, but otherwise everything is right in front of you. The clubhouse is outstanding and the staff was very friendly. I read some reviews from people who got grief from other golf course staffs (not Tapatio Springs) for booking with GolfNow, but I was treated great and the staff was professional and helpful.
I would strongly recommend Tapatio Springs to any golfer, especially if you can get a value through GolfNow.
mr
only had 100 and 150 yd markers. flags all the same color no pin sheets are issued hard to figure distances.
Picturesque
This is a jewel of a course hidden in the Hill Country. Some challenging holes; but on the whole a very friendly "track". Staff is super friendly as well.
WHAT A CHANGE!
It's been over 6 years since I played here. They have done a fantastic job of bringing the place back to life. I might even make a weekend vacation and enjoy all the facilities. The staff is great willing to help in any way. The entire place had flags out for the 4th of July, nice touch.
Course is in the best shape I've seen in the last 5 years. A few oof the green had some minor fingus problems, but the areas were small, limited and I
Course is in the best shape I've seen in the last 5 years. A few oof the green had some minor fingus problems, but the areas were small, limited and I can only recall on 2 or 3 greens. Maybe I shouldn't have hit my ball in thsoe areas.
One of my favorite courses
I like 29.99$ deal, will be using it a lot this season
mostly moderate to hard. two holes are killers. excellent staff.
A little confusing for first timers like us to get around. Course is in good shape. Need exact irons on two or three holes. Bring extra balls! Greens in good shape, fairways too. Rough is typical South Texas, half thin and half dirt. Would play again. Great value.
Its nice however....
The first time I played there it was great, but since then its dried up some, The members there kind of just play holes. There was a guy there playing with his dog, he kept skipping around another couple did the same thing. The greens keepers were watering the greens in the middle of round had to wait on them on a couple of holes. Made my ball stay up though. It was a deal but if you go during the week be prepared for that. Paid $20 so not complaining it was cool.
Where's the water?
Course is very dry. You could see where water should be but wasn't. Greens were painted to cover the dryness. Had heard good things about Tapatio Springs but was not that impressed. Picture advertised does not resemble course now. This has the makings of being a picturesque course if water was in supply. Greens were a bit slick but you could see the sand on them underneath the paint. Probably wouldn't play there again unless water situation is corrected. Not overly difficult with course pretty much laid out in front of you. The Valley course was the more difficult of the two we played (also played Lake/River course?).
Loved the course. Make sure to have lunch are dinner there. Great place to hang out after your round.
Great place to play golf and have lunch or dinner. Course is in great shape and is fun to play. People are friendly. The course is owned by Gorge Strait the country singer. They also have a hotel that you can stay at and play golf all weekend. it's in the hill county and lots of wild life in the area.
