Los Lagos Golf Club

About
Taking advantage of the Rio Grande Valley's growing reputation as a burgeoning golf destination, the city of Edinburg invested over $6 million to produce what is touted as one of the best courses in the Valley.
Eleven acres of lakes highlight this Robert von Hagge design, which leans more towards a links-style layout. The signature hole is the intimidating par 3 No. 14, which plays anywhere from 130 to 160 yards depending on the tee and pin placements. The southeast wind impacts your shot into a kidney-shaped green that is guarded by water on the left and a large pot bunker on the front right. The green is a tough two-putt, and if you miss the approach back right, you're faced with a tough chip back downhill toward the hole.
Los Lagos is a well-balanced course with equal yardage on both nines. Your best birdie chance is the 12th hole, which plays only 342 yards from the blue tees and has no major hazards. Water is in play on 12 of the 18 holes.
The open-air pavilion is a great place to enjoy your post-round beverages.
Getting there : From 281 north, exit on Freddy Gonalez and turn right. Drive down until you see Super Splash and turn right on Raul Longoria. The course is on the left side of the road next to Super Splash.

The course is challengeing
This is one of the best golf courses that I have ever played. The fairways and the greens are keep in excellent condition. I would recommend this course to anyone that is out to have fun with a good amount of challenge, a great amount of rolling hills, and just enough water and sand hazards to make it interesting.
Fun course!
Fun links style course. Challenging. Long hitters can have some fun, but placement off the tee is crucial.
View from clubhouse and patio looking out the 18th hole is great.
This being a links style course if you don't hit your ball in the right spot more often than not you will be hitting a blind shot from behind one the many giant mounds that are all over the course. I'm not a great player and even though the course kills me every time I play it I still love playing there..Greens are fast and most days it is windy but that makes it a more of a challenge. Fun course.
Nice course in good shape. Nice facilities.
Each hole was interesting, challenging and nice to look at. Considering Texas is so dry the course was in great shape. Greens were fast but smooth, fairways were cut short and a bit hard to take a divot so you had to adjust your iron shots. I'll definitely return to play again.
this course is in great shape, nice fairways, excellent greens
The course is a nice course that is very nicely groomed. the pace of place was a little slower than wanted, but otherwise it is a great value and very easy to get to/from and very easy to check in and get your cart. The cafe is a good value and the restrooms clean.
One of the best conditioned public courses in the Rio Grande Valley
The only "LINKS " style course in the Valley. Truly a pleasure to play.
Lots of challenges, every hole is different.
Difficult for high handicappers but overall an enjoyable experience!

Good course, good people. had fun. course was in good shape
NO GIVEAWAYS
Two well struck shots on any of the four par 5s is no birdie guarantee. There just aren't any giveaway holes. A well struck shot in golf should be rewarded hence "risk - reward" but rewards are hard to come by, but when they do they are well appreciated. Los Lagos is a challenge and I think all golfers love a challenge and play their best because of the challenge. The greens are fantastic, difficult and roll correctly. When you see the break... it is there. This course gets a PLATINUM rating from me.
This is the best course in the Valley.
This is a course that you can't miss if you visit the Valley.
Links style course with plenty of water holes and virtually no trees. Wind is definitely a factor here and will test your shot-making skills!
Los Lagos is a fairly challenging course with excellent greens. Eventhough there are almost no trees to speak of, this links style course has plenty of water holes, but the real challenge lies with whatever the wind conditions are for that particular day.
The course is well maintained. Fairways cut tight with little rough to speak of, however, they are hard as concrete and your ball will run forever. Bunkers are pretty well kept too.
Overall, if you want to play a solid course with tough wind conditions and excellent, quick -rolling greens...then this is the course for you...and the price is not to bad either!
the golf course is in excellant condition, except for the sand traps. I shot 87 from the blue tees and I am 71 years old.
I enjoyed myself very much playing on a hilly course full of challenges and water hazards. too bad I couldn't do better, but at my age maybe I shouldn't be complaining and thanking God that I can still enjoy the outdoors.
