Wildhorse Golf Club of Robson Ranch - South/West Course
About
The Wildhorse Golf Club is the first of three planned courses for the Robson Ranch Community outside of Denton. Designed by architect Gary Stephenson, the course opened the second nine in October 2002.
The signature hole is on the front, a 566-yard par 5 that requires a monster drive followed by two demanding approach shots.
Getting there : From Dallas take I-35 to Denton and look for the 35 W split. This takes you back towards the south to Fort Worth for 6 miles, where you’ll take the Robson Ranch exit. Drive 1.5 miles west and look for the course.

It's early in the season, but still worth it
Like most courses, the grass isn't completely in just yet. However, my son and I love this course. The layout is great. There are several risk/rewards opportunities. You have to think your way around this track. The members and local community are very welcoming. We'll be back many times. Thank you.
Way too expensive for the course and the drive from Frisco

Missing club rental, teed off and beer bummed
I rented two "sets" of clubs from the "Pro" shop and my son and I and my "set" was missing a PW, 9, 6, 5, and 4 irons I don't know about you but to me those clubs are really good things to have from 125 and out and probably would have made the round a bit more enjoyable.
No mention of comping me a discount for the lack of missing clubs when I was finished even though I pointed it out to them, just a "oh, ok sorry about that"
Oh and we had a tee "time" at 8:30 but they sent us off after some local older gents just kept showing up late one after the other and the "starter" decided we were going after them even though we were sitting there at 8:30 am to tee off, finally got off at 8:50 never seen that before, backed up before we even teed off.
Oh and they said a cart girl would be out at 10am we saw her right about 17 and finishing up...too late for a cold one with my son and nephew I see once a year on the course, bummer.
Later...
Great course, not quite in great shape just yet
Love this course. It's early in the season and the grass hasn't fully come in yet. Also, there were a few holes under construction. They will have it ready shortly and we'll be back.
Went down hill
No bunkers on nine holes
Way to expensive for what they offer
Entitled and Rude People live in this community - Stay away
I have not played on this course for a while until recently. The residence of the community certainly do not like outside golfers on this course. We were harassed several times during the play to by local ladies ( perhaps a league) to speed up although we were on path and on time . They were teeing up from red tees and picking up their balls on greens after to putts and wanted us to follow their rule. We let couple of groups to play through but then all want the same. Very entitled and rude ladies.
Sincerely great experience
Great staff. Beautiful, wide open course. Wonderful day. Only complaint might be that bc it’s a seniors/retirement community, so there are ample dudes in their 60s who have a comment about your play and will promptly put their hands on their hips to judge a 3 putt like they’re waiting on their cardiologist results. If you’re ok ignoring them, you can have a great day.
North/South course
My only complaint is with the condition of the South course. Other than that this is an outstanding facility.
Played the North/South courses. Teed off first on the North course of which is in great shape from tee to green. However once we made the turn and went to the first tee on the South course I was stunned at how poorly the course was from tee to green on all nine holes it was evident that the layout is totally neglected except for the greens. The grass is dead and mowed down to the ground. The sad part about this experience is that the facility still charges you full rate for a course that should be closed. And the front desk never mentioned the course was in this bad condition. 10/2/2025
Great Day and wonderful course
Other than the round being cart path only, [not the fault of Wildhorse, obviously] the round was great and challenging. The driving range, practice green, chipping area and the west and north courses were outstanding. The course is in great shape, offers good challenges and provides a really enjoyable day.
