Great Layout -- Poor Conditions
I really like Squaw Valley and want them to succeed. The Lakes course has an excellent John Colligan layout. Good mix of holes and very scoreable. People are great there. This got 2 starts for the condition of the Lakes course. It was bad enough that it should be open only with a discount, or at least an acknowledgment that they are struggling with the grass. There are areas on many greens where there is no grass at all. So much so that it is likely that you will have several putts where it comes into play with no way to even move the ball to a similar line and have a "real" putt that doesn't go over major bare spots. Many areas of the rough are the same way. Just bare dirt. I don't know if drought or the flood later got to the course, but it is sketchy right now. If you can see around that, or you get a good discount, they layout is really fun. Hopefully they will fix the greens. I did NOT see similar problems on the Links course from the holes visible around the pro shop.
the lost course
They redid the Greens and made a mess of many of them. Still sand areas the size of a truck hood! Fairways are a disaster as they were not maintained during the remake of the greens. Bare spots everywhere. Hope it recovers as it was my favorite.

All of the greens are in bad condition
All of the greens on this course are under large repair. Do not play there until this is fixed!!!!!
Still Recovering
2 of the best courses in the state - however the Lakes underwent some Greens repair. During the repair they did not water the fairways much, and with the drought it pretty much cooked the fairways. Hopefully with recent rains and mandatory Cart Path Only , the course will recover Greens aren’t rolling smooth but this too should change soon.
Lakes Review
One of the Top courses in the State. 2 courses to choose from - Links or Lakes. Always in great shape and well maintained. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. The on-site restaurant “The Rooster” has excellent food.
If your lucky you may get to see some of the areas PGA, LPGA stars playing. Tom Watson plays here often. Give it a go - you won’t be disappointed.

Great condition
Played at Squaw Valley for 8 yrs. Course in best shape ever. Greens are a tiny bit slow.

enjoyable round. met up with friendly couple which helped a lot. only had one green that wasn't up to par. fairways were pretty good. needs rain. course staff helpful and friendly.

Great day of golf
Course was beautiful, layout is good. Can be a bit confusing if you’re not familiar with it. The greens were a little beat up (played better ones) but overall it was very good. Will definitely play the course again.

Great course, but greens are terrible right now
I play this course almost every weekend, but I noticed this last time there’s weeds growing into the green creating super bumpy and slow greens. It’s like putting on a Chinese checker board. Made the experience terrible, not sure what they are gonna do about this.
