Course in Awful Shape
I’ve grown up and played squaw countless times. It’s always been a great course to play. I don’t know if something with management recently changed, but it’s in the worst shape I’ve ever seen. Might as well play a simulator and not putt because their greens are possibly the worst in North Texas. I wish them the best of luck because it’s an incredible layout and course when in shape. Just know you may be paying $65 for the worst possible greens I’ve seen.
No Greens
Advisement says “greens were punched”. We played the lakes side, more than 75% of the greens have been damaged or lost. Punched holes, uncut greens and what is left of the powana (spelling) makes for a round with an automatic 2-put. Fairways are great, many or the tee-boxes were un-cut and hairy and long. Not a great deal for $55/person.
Death of the Lakes
I couldn't find a Review before we booked so I just thought it was good. The clubhouse people said nothing of the condition of the course or any changes that have been made. I haven't played this course in a long time, and it will be another long time till I play it again! First the fairways need mowing, and the Tee Boxes were overgrown with weeds and needed water, couldn't stick your tee in the ground! When we arrived, I was wondering why the other course is so backed up and people waiting for their tee time? Worst of it all were the GREENS worst I have played on in a long time and that includes some hack courses around the state!! Plus, they just aerated the greens and sanded them to cover up the none grass. Very disappointed, not like it used to be it's a shame you pay that kind of money on the weekends you least expect to put your ball without it bouncing on sandy dirt and weeded greens.
Fairways are good.
The greens are in bad shape and the bunkers are trashed.
Greens still wretched
Greens still trash, but they are at least planting new sod on some of the greens.
Fun course
A most of us already know, the courses here have struggled with poa on the greens. The staff has been working like crazy to get the courses back in tip top shape. The Lakes still has some work to do but you can see the efforts!!
still greens issue
some greens still have bare spots. They're working on them though. Unusually slow rate of play (4 1/2 hrs).
greens
some of the greens need help o/w the course was in good shape. they are doing a good job of watering since they aren't getting much rain here.
Course was freshly mowed and had multiple inches of grass clippings in the fairway. You could hit right down the middle of the fairway. The greens are in horrible shape but the bunkers are worse. I've never seen bunkers that bad.
Great Shape
The course was in great shape - there were a handful of greens that had really bad sections on them, but in general, everything was green and well taken care of.
