Great course
First time playing this course and it was awesome! I’m not a great golfer but the course wasn’t too difficult. And it’s in great shape. Only negative was there was no water on the course. With the high temperatures that makes no sense. Otherwise we loved it.
Much improved this year.
Really enjoyed this course today. Greens are back to where they were a few years ago. Fairways and tee boxes were all well manicured.
Great course
I used to play out here quite often but never played the lakes course because of the conditions. I finally gave it a try and I was extremely impressed. The layout is so much fun and the greens are challenging if you find yourself on the wrong tier. It’s a fair course with a lot of character. The greens were in excellent condition outside of 3 holes and even those 3 holes were still playable. I would play this course every day.
Challenging but fair
The Lakes was very challenging but fair with the pin placements. The wind added to the intrigue ... The greens are getting better. There are a couple that are still a work in progress, but they are much better than they were a year ago and even six months ago. The Super is doing a great job getting the course back to where it was in year's past. Can't want to see where it is come fall.
Great Course
Enjoyed the course very much. Played Commanche Lakes, 4 out 18 greens were in good shape, 3 great shape. Course was pretty wet in several areas, but overall a nice play.
Played it today and in way better shape it was a couple months ago grass is coming back in the ground crew are doing a good job with what they were
Greens starting to fill in better way better than it had been a few months back. Hats off to ground crew
Great layout, but bad greens
I played Comanche. The layout of the course was really nice overall with a good variety of hills lies and tee shots but the greens were just terrible on every hole except #1 bad spots of grass with lots sand on some or sometimes not at all and it’s literally craters with dirt on the green. For those who get hungry, no stopping at the clubhouse for food at the turn bc 9 goes straight to 10 and you can’t get back to the clubhouse.
Where's the greens gone?
Greens on lakes were severly damaged and patched, not mowed and full of weeds.
Sad to see, usually so nice!
Needs Work, Guys
Fairways & tee boxes were unexpectedly shaggy. Greens were OK but had multiple patches on multiple holes that limited where they could put the pin. Pace of play was 3 hrs 15 min, which was fantastic & the day was cloudy if not overly humid. All in all, I've seen these tracks in much better shape so hoping that they get back to that level as both courses are well worth the drive fm Ft Worth. Svc at the grill & drink cart was 5-star!
Tee to green was nice. Greens weren’t in good shape.
Squaw Valley
Course has dropped in quality this year. Fairways covered in mowed clipping like it hadn’t been mowed for quite sometime. Around the green the fringe was just thick grass growing on to the green. This is probably what cause all the loans annua on the greens. If I was lucky to find a decent spot on the greens to putt it was speed bumps all the way to the hole. Other parts of the greens were dead having to putt through sandy areas where there was no grass or having to putt through sods of grass. I played this course several time early on this year and it was great. We had a lot of rain earlier this year and you think that would have made for great conditions for the course but they let it go in that time and it now shows. You can’t say weather because other course around the area are no where near this bad. Going to be awhile before going back out to play. I was on the Lakes course. Not sure how the links course it but not going to chance it.
Could be amazing
Greens are getting better, but a few tee boxes are just weeds. Clumps of mowed grass are everywhere and good place to lose a ball. More frequent mowings?
Course in Awful Shape
I’ve grown up and played squaw countless times. It’s always been a great course to play. I don’t know if something with management recently changed, but it’s in the worst shape I’ve ever seen. Might as well play a simulator and not putt because their greens are possibly the worst in North Texas. I wish them the best of luck because it’s an incredible layout and course when in shape. Just know you may be paying $65 for the worst possible greens I’ve seen.
No Greens
Advisement says “greens were punched”. We played the lakes side, more than 75% of the greens have been damaged or lost. Punched holes, uncut greens and what is left of the powana (spelling) makes for a round with an automatic 2-put. Fairways are great, many or the tee-boxes were un-cut and hairy and long. Not a great deal for $55/person.
