Reviews
Fun but pricey
New greens are faster. The fairways still don't look as if they are kept in great shape. This course is also fairly short compared to most 18 hole courses. All in all it's a fun local place to play but it's a bit pricey compared to other longer courses .
Needs some work
This course has apparently fallen on some hard times. It doesn't look like it was ever anything great but it needs a lot of work. They fairways are very hard and overgrown. The greens were just redone but on most of the holes you would never know it. If you do play this course it's best to leave the driver in the bag. The fairways are very tight and there is not much room for error with water on almost every hole and thick brush lining the rough on the fairways.
Good for what it is!
Great location, but that is probably it's curse too. Such a small parcel of land that there is no driving range and the holes are SO NARROW (plays to a par of 68). The greens are very slow and bumpy. Fairways have St Augustine in several places mixed with the traditional Bermuda. OB is often very much in play. Smartest thing you can do is leave the driver at home and hit irons off tees. The best test of this course are the par 3's. They are a really good test of golf and a good mix of long and short.
PLEASE READ!!!
This is first course I ever played on and if you want an honest review here it is....this is the best shape this course has ever been in lately!! Now, if u have been to other bigger courses before you visited this course, hear me out before u go to heron. This course by no means will blow u away but it will train u to shoot straighter than u ever have in life!!! This course is somewhat of a practice course but to the none experienced and the in betweeners its a challenge. The fairways are a 6 out of 10 and, the greens are about a 7. Last thing.....DO NOT PAY OVER 20 dollars for this course!!
No, just no
Course greens were in terrible shape.
Not worth the money .
No clue what the marshall was doing...
We had a single player in front of us holding up the threesome I was in...
We paid for 18 and left after 9. didn't even bother getting the 9 hole rain check
short
This is a short and narrow track. Great for shooting a low score! The greens are much nicer!
Money well spent!
The staff are very friendly, Well mannered and helpful. To me it is very important. The course is small compared to other golf courses that I have seen. It is clean and well maintained.
Hard but fun course
The course was very narrow with lots of water but it was well maintained and a great challenge. The bar and grill was not opened when we went and I'm not sure if it was under construction but I am hoping the next time we go back it is because it was fully stocked and looked like it would be a great time.
SHort tight course
The course is much improved over the last year. It is a short course which makes scoring easier, but it is very narrow which requires accuracy. The greens have been rebuild and are much nicer than previous years. They are making great strides improving this course.
Bad Experience
Booked our tee time for 130p. Showed up on time and it started raining on us just as we grabbed our cart so they decide to shut the course down for the day.
After we looked at the radar it was apperent that it would pass in about 15 minutes then be clear for the rest of the day. Staff still decided to shut course down and pretty much gave me 9 hole rain checks after a small debate. The cashier claimed that she's only allowed to give them for 9 holes total when we had paid for 18. My comment was so if you were gonna shut the course down why even charge my card? That got her to provide 4 9 hole rain checks.
It was obvious they all wanted any excuse to call it a day and go home. Kinda disappointed that it required a argument for a refund when we didn't even have out bags in the cart yet. Kinda rediculous. For a place that needs all the business they can get, sure didn't seem that way.
budget
If the normal price were $10 for a round, it would be a good place to practice. Pay more than $10 and its not a good value. Green are like fairways at a $50 course. Cut to 1/4 inch height. Fairways are super tight, but, the course is very short. Bring your irons and practice target golf.
Heron lakes
Greens were too long need to be cut fairways are narrow need to hit ball straight I lost a few balls
We had the course to ourselves until we hit hole 13 but then pace was still hood
Amateur Review
I just got into golf in fact this is just the second course I have been too not considering the driving ranges. The course is a little difficult considering the narrow fairways otherwise its cheap and good. Don't expect a country club type course however its decent course. Money well worth it if you are not a pro.
The weekday practice.
The course itself was in great shape. The greens need some work and are a bit bumpy. The course is a good practice round of golf for the average player with the longest hole at 330 yards.
Great value
Had many narrow fairways. Fairways were well manicured, and greens were slow. Overall, a great experience!!
Heron Lakes Golf Course
Great value. Challenging course. Friendly personnel. Course was well maintained.
Interesting course .... Keep U mind on D game
Course has a lots of improvement lately , it's always fun to play here
Greens were in awful shape
If they would mow the greens, I would consider playing again. The price was right but will look elsewhere before playing here again.
Needs to mow the putting greens
You get what you pay for but, I have to complain about the putting greens. It was putting on the fairway or the first cut even. No cart girl for drinks, but hey I paid $15 per person to play but c'mon mow the freaking putting greens!
