Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club

About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Course was great
Based on few reviews we didn't think the course would be in good shape but today that changed our minds. Fairways were nice and greens were fast but well maintained. The downside to the new time change is the 530 mandatory completion whichever home you are on. We were on hole 16 finishing right at 530 and could of finish the last two holes. Other than that the value of the course is pretty over priced on weekends.
Home run at Meadow Brook Farms !
My son & I had a great time playing the course.. challenging layout; greens in great shape
Great time
Got paired with some great people, greens were great. Will be back soon!
Cloudy and cool
Overnight and some morning rain made it CPO so decided to walk it. Course was in awesome shape and even with the rain was not overly wet. Enjoy playing at MBF.
Playing behind high school team
Front 9 was closed for seeding which wasn’t revealed when I booked. I’m told I can play back 9 twice. My teetime was 2:30 pm, but told that I’ll have to wait until after a corporate group tee off on their back 9, then high school group tee off, then my 4-some would be next. The last corporate 5 some started their back 9 at 2:30pm. When I complained that we should be next bc our teetime was 2:30, the starter jestingly said the high school team’s teetime was earlier than ours at 2:12pm. No apology was made for this delay.
I don’t think I’ll come back to play here again
Monday afternoon at Meadowbrooks
Course condition was good. I would have given it 5 stars all the way but the course did not inform golfer when making reservations that the front 9 holes were closed and golfers would have to play back 9 holes twice. This is the second time I’m experiencing this “deceptive sales” at this golf course. I did not drive several miles only to play back 9 holes twice - this nonsense needs to stop!
Golf courses can be forthright and decent with their sales - golfers will still patronize them. No need to be deceptive.
Took advantage of an error on their booking site
This is not one of my favorite courses but at the price they published for afternoon rounds on the 30th, it was well worth it! It is a good layout and it was in pretty good condition. Some patchy areas on a couple of greens and the bunkers never seem to have enough sand in them. Pace of play is never great and wasn't this time either.
Great Condition
Haven’t played here in a year, decided to come back and it didn’t disappoint. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition despite the drought. Enjoyed it!
The course was in pristine condition despite the drought
Greens, bunkers and fairways well kept lots of water stations around the course I’ll enjoy my play there. Practice putter green closed due to reconstruction but was not an issue.
This course is fun and challenging to play
I've played Meadowbrook several times and it's a fun and challenging course to play. We played from the blue/ white combo tees and had a competitive round. The course was in good shape with the occasional brown / dry patches on the fairways and greens but overall in good shape considering how hot and dry it's been. There was drinking water available but no cart service. Driving range was limited to only irons (not sure the reasoning behind that). Cool towels at the turn would be nice and I believe they once offered.
Overall a good day at Meadowbrook Farms.
Meadowbrook Farms
Despite the heat, my son and I had a great time at Meadowbrook Farms. The course is in great condition and the staff was very friendly. The heat was a little tough, 100+ degrees, but that made the pace of play fast because there weren’t many people on the course. It’s a little bit pricy but, if you ignore the cost, it’s a great place to play.
No drink cart no coolers on carts
Then complain when we put there drinks in our cooler to keep cool.
This is twice now that the group in front of us teed off and hit 2-3 balls every hole.
Go elsewhere
Played Meadowbrook Friday 30th June. The general condition of the course is very very poor, but the greens are worse. In many cases un-playable. This place is a joke when you consider what they charge. It’s a superb layout which makes it even more disappointing. Made worse by several 5 balls playing ahead of us - 5 balls !!!!
Go elsewhere if you wants. Good round of golf
Disappointed, but has potential
I've lived minutes from Meadowbrook Farms for nearly a decade and wanted to give it a try. We finally did, in spite of the weather, taking advantage of a the twilight rates.
Frankly, the entire round was full of disappointment. Course conditions were just bad - tee boxes with uneven lies and patchy grass, burned out greens with lots of sand or sod repairs, and deadpan areas around the greens. Look, I know it's been blisteringly hot here in SE Texas the last few weeks and the conditions indicated that. The course has a great layout, and in decent condition, I can see where they'd justify their price point. But not right now. I've play plenty of courses in the area for half the cost and better upkeep. Maybe I'll give them a try in the future when things ease up a bit with the weather, but right now, it's not worth the money to only discover lots of disappointment.
