Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club

About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Great fairways….
The greens were in the worst conditions I have ever seen them. They were really terrible, well below average, many of the 18 holes were bold in several areas.
Overpriced!
This is generally a great course. They've raised prices quite a bit for a public course. It would be great if they were upfront about the conditions. When I showed up, the front nine was completely closed and you had to play the back 9 twice. We were still charged $85 each. The greens were punched recently so they were not rolling consistently.
Terrible greens. Not worth the money
For a course that charges $125 a round during peak hours, I expect a course in great condition. That couldn't be further from the case here. The greens were in horrendous shape. There were bare patches all over every green and I'm not talking just a few spots. You couldn't putt a ball from anywhere on the green without having a bare spot in the path unless you were within 10 feet of a hole. Every time I putted, it looked like my ball was taking a roller coaster ride. . I've played $40 municipal courses with better greens. It's a shame how they have let this course deteriorate. Go play Cinco Ranch or Blackhorse and save yourself some money.
Great fairways
I was surprised with the quality of some of the greens. They were below par
Greens need work
Love the layout of the course, just wish the greens were in better conditions for the price.
Decent course, nice layout, overpriced
Pretty good course, good layout, greens could use some TLC. Not worth $125+.
Over priced, poor conditions
I love this course because of the proximity to where I live as well as the layout of the course. I think that's the best thing I have to say about it. We paid $125 on a Sunday morning and feel like we were robbed, literally. For $125, I would expect not only a cart person but great greens, and tee boxes. Neither existed. The greens we sub par at best. Most were damaged and did not show well at all. Same for the tee boxes. Several were way below par for what they are charging. Let me put it to you this way, the only way I would ever play this course again is if I got it for under $50 or they dramatically improve the course conditions. It just seems like they are getting every penny out of this thing without putting in the work required to charge this much for a round. I do NOT recommend this course by any degree.
Way over priced
Fortunately I had a hot deal and used many 10$ off discounts to pay only 20$. For the regular fees they charge I would expect plush pga style fairways and greens. Course maybe $40 at best.
Nice course but pricey on the weekend
Nice course Greens need a little work but speed was ok
Great course
I love this course. Good layout. Course is in good condition. Staff are very professional and friendly.
Practical but pricey
Ticks most of the boxes for me, but honestly the price is a bit too steep for what you get. I enjoy playing here for the layout… it’s challenging enough, but not overly difficult. Hitting a good second shot is key on top of a good tee shot.
It’s not as crowded as other nearby courses, but the price probably played a role in that. Having said that, the people I play with here (complete strangers) are always super friendly and I was able to make good friends with a lot of folks I meet here.
Not worth $125
The front had lots of bad greens, some not even playable. For$125 I expected something of the caliber of the Golf Course of Houston. Not so. Courses like Quail Valley, Missouri City twice as good at no more than $75 around. Shot 82.
