Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club

About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Late March Afternoon at Meadowbrooks
Overall course condition is average, certainly not in top form as previously played. Value for money was fair and course was practically empty. - had to start from back 9 though.
It is a great golf course
It is a great golf course. My friends and I like to play this course again.
Nice Course but Could be Better
It is a decent set up for the club facilities. The course is good as far as variability and playability but could be better if in better condition. The fairways were thin, the rough was mostly bare and hard as a rock and the greens were pretty beat up. At $100 per round I expected better.
Monday afternoon at Meadowbrooks
Front nine was under repairs and had to play back nine twice
Great use of land.
I’ll give the course a break about the slow play since it was a holiday.
Totally not worth the money
Course conditions are horrible. It's worse than most of the munis in the area. For what they charge they should be embarrassed. The carts are old, the range balls are crappy and the staff is rude. No beverage service on a busy Saturday either.
Impromptu Round.
Impromptu round of golf but nevertheless Meadowbrook was ready to accommodate. From check in to starter to Marshall couldn’t have been more pleased with the outstanding service.
Course is in great shape… especially the putting greens.
Course condition was good, beautiful view.
First time playing here, good experience. Open view, fairway and green were in great condition. Bathrooms are available in the middle. Somewhat challenged but fun. Got my best score there since starting playing golf. Also got a Birdie and a few Pars on that day. Wish a GPS was provided with the cart, and pace would be faster with enforcement.
Shouldn’t have been open
Appreciating there had been severe overnight rain and over the previous few days which affected the course condition, the reality is that the course should not have been open for play. There were so many standing water features, causing unnecessary lost balls, and greens had not been cut or rolled (understandably given the rainfall). Personally don’t think the course should have been open and certainly not at the price paid. Highly doubt I will ever return there
Value
For a lot of courses pricing does not equate to value and this is no exception. Fairways were decent but greens were not good for this time of year. It appears the process of overseeding has taken place.
