The Golf Club at McKinney

Nice course, great greens, but the sand traps are poor.

I've played this course at least 10 times since they've been available on golfnow. They always offer unbeatable deals and I would highly recommend that you take advantage of them. Plus they offer free range balls so get there early. Course is typically in good shape but I agree that they definitely need to do something about their bunkers and there arent always cart girls on the course. However, I've never experienced anything but superb customer service and each time I've played this course has been only using golfnow "hot deals".

This course is a tight layout but can be fun... A couple of issues on this to mention during play, No Cart Girl, No Water on course and staff was less than friendly for a "Golf Now" deal...

The par 3 over water in the back nine plays longer than it looks and because it has the split green that is hard to see from 160+ yards away - make sure you are on the correct side.

This course could be nice if they would match some of the normal items necessary to enjoy a round.

Greens are terrific! Undulating and quick. Bunkers and most fairways are need of attention!

Most holes have character and challanges that require thought and ability. The greens proved to be fairly fast and required study before putting. I'll play again.

Overall the course is very nice. The layout is very good and playable for average golfers like myself. Right now the sand traps are very bad, no sand. Price is very good at the price I paid on the day I played. Service and personnel are very nice and friendly.

"The Golf Club of McKinney" is a very nice course. The greens were some of the best that I have played on in 2013, true roll and very fast. Each hole is very different and a real challenge. The pace of play was good too. Give The Golf Club of Dallas a try, you will be glad you did.

The course is a good value for the area. The fairways need more seed (very tight lies in the fairway). Greens rolled true - pace of play was just ok for a weekday morning.

Only issue is the lack of sand in the sand traps.

Overall, for the lack of rain the course was in ok shape. The greens ran true, and held the ball well. Negatives: Sand traps were more like hard dirt on top of concrete & in the entire round not a single beverage cart appearance. The only saving grace was that the water was actually cold in the coolers. Would I recommend this course, not during the summer, maybe the spring or fall.

The greens were super fast. However, the fairways were way dry. The dirt was near rock solid. It made every lie in the fairway thin.

Our foursome played at noon on a Monday in late August for under $20 each. Always a fun layout and the greens were rolling well. The rest of the grass was showing some heat stress and the bunkers are plain dirt.

Well kept course with plenty of challenge. The sand traps could use some TLC, but everything else was in great shape. Narrow fairways on several holes, and the greens are quick and break fast.

Nice course, but if it's your first time, follow someone. The back and forth across the street can be confusing to find the next hole.

I was asked by your staff to write to you and let you know about my time at your course on 8/11.

I have played your course several times and have always had a great time. I had finished playing a round at Heritage Ranch and decided to come and play 18 holes at your club.

I booked a 5:06pm tee time through golf now.

After teeing off, it took about 3 holes to catch up to the next group (threesome) and the let me play though. I arrived on the 5th hole and there were two twosomes that were waiting to tee off so I was the 3rd person in line. Since neither group offered to let me through or to join them, I decided to skip some holes to get to an open spot. The course was busy with twosomes all the way to the 9th hole when I saw a single golfer and he waited over 7 minutes to tee off behind another twosome. I ended up not playing any more.

There were no marshals on the course and some of the players were taking longer than normal to complete a hole which led to this backup.

The worst part of the day was that there were no beverage carts on the course and I was so thirsty that I filled my empty bottle of soda with some water from your "coolers". I took a big gulp and the water was so warm and stale that I physically got sick.

I am sure that yesterday was an exception but please ask your staff to try and group the players if they can so that it helps the pace of play. And please make sure there is drinkable water on the course on days the the temperatures are high and people need to be hydrated.

I think this course is a bargain. The staff was courteous and cheerful even though it was 100+ outside. We will continue to play here when our schedule allows.

The greens are fast and in good shape. That is where it ends!! Played on mid-Sunday afternoon, very hot outside. The fairways are rock hard, very little "fluffy" grass on them and when your not on the fairway, there are large cracks and no grass!!

Pace of play is VERY SLOW, as a two-some the four-some in front of us did not let us play through until we beat them to the #10 tee.

The worst part however was the fact it was over 100 degrees outside on a Sunday afternoon and we NEVER SAW A CART GIRL and WHEN I CALLED THE CLUBHOUSE TO ASK, THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE GRILL!! I CALLED THE "GRILL" AND THE GIRL TOLD ME SHE WAS NOT COMING OUT FOR THE REST OF THE DAY AND THIS WAS 3PM ON A SUNDAY. THE COOLERS OF WATER ON THE COURSE WERE EITHER EMPTY OR VERY WARM WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! It will be the last time i play there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The greens are in excellent condition as are the fairways. However, I can say from painful experience that the sand traps are a disaster. They resembled hardened corn-rowed mud rather than sand.

Looking for a course in good shape in the DFW area and found a gem in the GC at McKinney! You get 18 holes plus range balls included in your fees. Course was in very good condition considering the drought. Friendly staff and clientele topped off a great golf outing!

I got a great deal for my group by using Golfnow ($29). I would not pay much more than that to golf here. The check-in process with smoothly and the clubhouse staff was friendly enough.

My ‘only’ issue with this course is my group golfed 18 holes and the only time we saw a cart-girl was at the turn following the 9th hole. Around hole 5 we called the clubhouse and asked if there was a cart girl out. We were told “she’s out and should be there shortly. Back to the cart girl…..upon seeing her at the turn we asked her if she was out making the rounds. We mentioned we had played the front 9 and never saw her or anyone else with a cart. Her response with a lot of unnecessary attitude was “I’ve been busy”. No apology, nothing other than “I’ve been busy”. I find it unacceptable that I can golf 18 holes (on a course that claims to have cart girls) and only come across a cart girl at the club house. Eliminate this issue and I might consider golfing here again. The course is decent but not decent enough for this type of 'service'.

If you decide to golf here I highly recommend bringing a cooler filled with your drink of choice. Do NOT expect to buy anything on while on the course.
