worst starting hole ever played, all others are great.
First time ever being reprimanded/scolded by a "cart-girl" just sitting her cart at the turn for playing a five-some on the weekend when we only had four players?? Never mind the fact that the cart girl never came around once on the front nine even after calling the pro-shop after our third hole. Never saw her again until we finished #18 sitting in her cart again by the cart return barn. Did I mentioned that we start close to noon time!!
I imagine our group would have spent a lot $$$ on drinks that day, on hindsight glad we didn't.
Very impressed
Better pay attention and drive slow because this course is set up in such a way you may be at the wrong hole. That is the only negative if you want to call it that. Like the clubhouse, driving range and just about everything about the course. Greens are big and the day we played super fast. Can't wait to try and tackle the course again.
Good directional signs except for hole 6.
In this heat, would be nice to have cold water on course. Most water dispensers had warm water.
The sand traps are like waste bunkers ! Filled with gravel not sand!
Time to fix those huge cracks on buggy paths!
The greens were in great shape
A few skinny fairways and very fast greens made this a fun and challenging course. Also, the range balls were included in the fee to play, which was nice.
Nice Course in McKinney
The Golf Club at McKinney provides a challenge for all levels of golfer. The course is in very good condition and the greens are good speed and true. The fairways are well maintained with challenging rough. Course difficulty depends on whether you play from the white tees or the tips. The Red tees are very forgiving for women and junior players. I would highly recommend this course and it's green fees are very reasonable, especially if you consider they include range balls.
A Very Good Golf Course
Don't judge G.C.@ McKinney from your drive off the first hole - for the most part the landing areas are generous. Not hard to keep the ball in the fairways - plenty wide except #1, 10 & 11.
I found the fairways in great shape and easy to hit from.
Greens very receptive. Interesting internal movement in many greens - I had to pay attention to breaks and the line to the hole.
Staff was very hospitable - I played 4 holes and the rains came - got a rain check for a full round which I cashed in Friday - very nice.
A good place to play.
Great greens. Good staff. Sand traps hard and needed to be raked up. Large fairways in good condition
Would like to play again! Greens and fairways in great shape
Quick Round
I played the Golf Club at McKinney yesterday and it was a quick enjoyable round. This is a somewhat cluttered track, but I guess they did the best they could with the amount of space they had to work with. I got done in 2.5 hours, will probably play it again if I want to play early in the week and dont have much time to spare.
Decent course as long as you do not have to pay full price
Golnow.com had a great deal for an afternoon play on Saturday. Decent course. I will play again if I find another deal.
the little I saw of it -nice layout
played 7/19--only got in 6 holes because of bad weather coming in--they came out and told me and my son that we could play at our own risk or come in and they would credit us for another round. unfortunately we came into pro shop for our credit and they only gave us 9 hole credit which obviously doesn't get me to the 18 we paid for ---at the very least we should have received a credit for 12 holes--this leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth for this course and them doing the right thing and me playing here again.
Fast as lighting
The greens are playing fast right now which i like but was not prepared for so i had a lot of long 2nd AND third putts.
The course is in pretty good shape overall. It is a good value .
I wish they maintained the fairways better
I liked the layout of this course. I didn't like that the fairways were in desperate need of being mowed. The tee boxes also needed some attention. The greens rolled fairly true and were fast. I wish the signs were a little more clear on where the next holes were.
Greens are quick but hold approach shots
This course is very challenging. The fairways are in great shape and the greens are very fast, and depending on the pin placement, can be darn near frustrating. Overall, I really like this course especially if you can get a good deal through Golfnow.
Nice course, greens excellent, but 5+ Hr on Sat. afternoon :-(
Really liked layout and condition of course except one hole on back which had cart path driving directly into the tee box on next hole. More than a little dangerous. Surprised that no one has been hurt. Fee quite reasonable and included cart and practice balls. Staff courteous and responsive in clubhouse. Beverage cart was not available until we had played 14 holes.
Fairways well maintained and greens fast and true. Fair test for all handicap levels. Would not play on Sat pm again due to pace of play, but overall I liked course.
Worth the drive, Excellent Golfnow price
Open fairways well-maintained. challenging holes driving over water, multi-tiered FAST greens. Didnt have beer cart, but not sure many courses do during the weekdays. Overall very satisfied, and will definitely return.
Fun course
Reading the other reviews on here, I had high expectations for this course. So when those expectations were not met, it was somewhat of a let down.
With that said, this course was tons of fun and is an excellent value.
Pros:
- Awesome layout
- Pace of play was excellent
- Good value at 20.00
- Not a long course but plenty of challenges
Cons:
- Fairways need some attention
- Greens weren't bumpy but a little slow
Could be maintained better
Good layout (minus needing more signs for where next whole is). Greens were decent, but tee boxes were uneven. Often times teeing off with ball above/below feet. Bunkers are rock hard. Unlimited range balls is basically dependent upon how fast the ball boy can collect from the range and bring back to you. Great staff though!
Hidden Gem
This course recently became public and man is it worth it. I used to play here a ton 5-6 years ago and not much has changed…Greens are Fast and tough and the course is in overall great shape. Fantastic value…Would highly recommend.
Love the Greens
The course was in great shape from tee to green...
