WestRidge Golf Course
About
WestRidge Golf Course is a unique Jeff Brauer design that features a user-friendly layout. The design tips out at a standard-looking 7,041 yards, however its combination of six par 3s (none over water), six par 4s, and six par 5s is far from normal. Brauer incorporated deep bunkers, natural areas, and lakes to accompany the huge, undulating greens that await hacks who become lazy after getting home in regulation. Other than the unique hole combination, WestRidge Golf Course's drive-able par 4s (nos. 1 and 13) are notable during the summer months because they play downwind and are good birdie opportunities.

Good course.
The greens on the front 9 were not in the best of shape. The greens on the back 9 were much better. It was probably the cold weather we had in the spring.
Pleasantly surprised
Great course for the Money. Fairways and greens in excellent shape. Played another course in McKinney while visiting Texas for similar price and this course blew it away. Wish just played this twice.
Bad greens, they lost the front 9
I like this course, is a fun course, my only issue is always the pace of play, I got used to that because I like the driving range, and the deals with food are always good.
They are having the same problem they had last year, The greens on the front 9 are dying. Whoever posted "the greens were beautiful" probably works for the golf course because it not even close to reality. I hope they can fix the greens quick, is a shame this course has those issues.
Greens were beautiful
Hats off to the grounds crew. The greens were in amazing shape, fairways rolled true as well. Just overall great facility.
Completely horrible!
If you want any semblance of customer service? Avoid this place with everything you’ve got! Absolutely zero interest in making the experience here worthwhile. To start? The girl behind the counter in the bar had a terrible attitude, constantly sighing out loud, complaining about how “busy“ was, and when I got up to the counter, she simply said ”yes?”
The Pace of play was utterly atrocious. And not one Marshall on the course. It got so bad at one point, on the 13th hole, after using the touch screen on the cart to ask for a players assistant five times, I finally made a phone call to the pro shop. After explaining to them what the situation was, and that the group in front of us had over two holes empty in front of them, response I got was, “yes, we are aware.“ When I asked him what they were going to do about it, they said they had sent several messages to their carts on the touchscreen. I told him that obviously that wasn’t working and that someone needed to come out and do something about it, and I was told that someone would be right out. 45 minutes later, (when we had finished two more holes, mind you,) I called back, to ask why no one had come out. I was told that, “yes we are aware there is a problem, and we will try and send someone out there as soon as possible.“ When I told him that this was the second time that I had called, and that I was told the same thing 45 minutes ago, the person at the desk, “Mark“, told me that “yes, well, we are really busy here in the bar and the clubhouse, so I just don’t know if we’re going to be able to send anyone else out to help you.” I explained to him that, again, the group in front of us was over two holes behind now, and that we had anywhere from 2 to 3 groups on every Teebox waiting because of them I explained to him that, again, the group in front of us was over two holes behind now, and that we had anywhere from 2 to 3 groups on every Teebox waiting because of them, and that, while I appreciated the fact that they had lots of customers in the bar in the pro shop, that there were numerous people out on the golf course, who had paid between 50 and $75 a piece to play, that were in desperate need of some support out on the course. I then asked him bluntly, “are you going to send someone out to help us or not?“ Mark told me that he was new there and really didn’t think you could make that kind of a decision. So I simply hung up the phone and finish the round.
In short, no one ever came. I went into the clubhouse once I finished my round, and asked to speak to someone in charge. Are young redheaded man came to the desk and said, “yes?“. I then explained to him exactly what we had gone through on the back nine: particularly in that it has taken us close to three hours to play the back nine, simply because the pro shop would not send someone out to help us. He simply have the same response over and over again… “Yes“, “uh huh”, “yes.” I finally said to him that we felt left out to dry on the golf course, and that it didn’t appear as though he or anyone else at the course really cared. His response? “Well, I really don’t know what to tell you.” So I asked him, “so, that’s it?” His answer? “Yes sir.“ I told him that I was going to be writing this review about his course after work, and he simply looked at me and said “OK.“ No apology. No exclamation. Nothing.
As I said, go to this place at your own risk.
Great course
Always a good time me and my have when we play there.
Pace of Play Issues
Our group generally stopped going to WestRidge due to the terrible pace of play issues and the last time we were there, many greens were awful, to the point of having areas that were marked off. So we hadn't been in more than 6 months. Today we thought we'd see what had changed. The answer is NOTHING regarding the pace of play. No marshal. Nobody doing anything to try to enforce speedy play. Sure the carts might flash a warning that the group is behind but nobody pays attention to that. After 4 hours with likely another hour+ to go, that was enough for me. Again, this will be on my DO NOT PLAY/DO NOT RECOMMEND list.
I just had exactly the same experience that you have had. I mean I could’ve written your review myself, and it would’ve been exactly right. I will never, ever come to this golf course again.
Terrible Greens
The greens are in terrible shape. This happened last year. It took several months until they were playable again. The lay out is excellent. The rest of the course was in good shape.
Will be back, but not for a few months.
I wouldn't recommend until the greens are back.
Great Change of Pace
Loved this course. Greens roll very true and you can be aggressive since they are a little on the slower side. Extra Par 5's and Par 3's give Eagle chances and exciting Ace opportunities. I live nearby but if I did not I would still drive 30 miles to play this course. Always a good time and also a great practice facility. Hit em straight!!
Very nice
For this time of the year this course is pretty nice. The greens are in good shape and the hole positioning is challenging.
Overall I really like this course.
Good round for the price.
The course was a bit in rough shape, which was kind of expected for this time of year here in Texas. The greens were actually the biggest issue, but what can one complain about, for the price and time of year. Westridge however is a great course to play otherwise.
Too slow
You have a beautiful course. But slow play is ruining the golfing experience and nothing is being done about it. Could only finish 14 holes in 4 and a half hours. Do something.
Great shape
I have played this course for years. Greens are actually as good as I have ever seen. Especially for the dead of winter. VERY FAST! Pin placements could have been a little more forgiving due to the speed.
Enjoyed our round.
Never a fast round at Westridge. Charged $35 when the Golf now rate was $29. Didn’t catch the mistake until later and by the time we started our round we should of been charged $22.
Bad Day
Unfriendly staff, terrible pace(5:39),lack of karts, wait 25 min for a kart,no marshals around.
I totally disagree, I have been a paying member for (6) months playing there longer. The staff there has always been accommodating but the grill can get backed up & that's why they encourage food orders to be placed while on 8 or 9. While yes the front side greens are truly having some issue the back side are @ 90%+ I play there every week so I can speak with confidence they are working on them....& no I don't work there
