Stone River Golf Club

About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

Needs some TLC
The back 9 was decent. The front 9 needs some serious TLC. Pace of play was terrible. 5 hours for 18 holes. Tee boxes and fairways were dirt. Some green were too.
Cow pasture
This was my first time playing and I was highly disappointed. The fairways on the front 9 look worse than my hay pasture with 72 head of black angus. I understand times are hard. But it was rather frustrating due to not being able to drive on the fairways, being cart path only. Not sure what they were trying to gain being that it wasn’t wet. Hope this helps
Great place to golf. Some golfers can be a little slow but thats everywhere you.
The Woman at the desk is great. Never seen her without a smile.
Iffy value
Not sure what wrecked some of the fairways, but it was not great. I hope the weather cooperates so they can re-grow the many dead spots.
There’s only so much control they can have. That being said, the value vs the product is iffy.
Best of luck.
Unplayable
My expectations are never high here but they have let most of this course become unplayable. Probably the worst fairways I have seen on my 40 years of playing golf.
Used and Abused
The course is really rough and rock hard. Layout winds through homes. Cartpath lacks signage. Scorecard does not show cartpath. It shows city streets?? Which you have to navigate across several times. Greens wont hold. Prople at counter dont like GolfNow. Made us feel unwelcome. Lots of weeds on and around the greens. League night on back so we had play front 9 twice. Overbooked and needs a real course manager.
Confusing layout Weaves Through Cramped Development
Have played here a couple of times and still need my map notes to navigate back and forth and down poorly marked cart paths. The route is within a tight housing development. The cartpath crosses city streets at least 6 times. Fairways so dry puffs of dust follow ball.
The people in clubhouse dont care for “GolfNow”, but they did accept our reservation after I showed them my receipt. Said “reservation wasnt done right by GolfNow”.
Ended up on League Night on back nine. So instructed to play front 9 twice. So we didnt play holes 10-18 this time. The course was also VERY HARD and DRY. Fairways are crabgrass. Difficulty holding several hard and small grerns. This course is what it is.. cramped and overbooked.
Way too Wet!
Played the day after a rain (roughly .5" the night before an 11AM tee time) and that was a big mistake! Unfortunately the course has really poor drainage and roughly half of every fairway was submerged under standing water. The greens were dry, but very fuzzy. I'm guessing they haven't mowed in the past week or so due to weather scares. It needs a lot of work before the summer season to have actual playable grass. Overall, I would give it another shot, but maybe not until after a very long dry spell.
Fun Course
Played 9 holes after work. We played the back 9 since they have a league that was playing the front 9 holes. Greens were in good condition. Fun course to play.
