Stone River Golf Club
About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

Failing miserably
I have golfed here many times and yesterday may have been the last. Their HotDeal teetime is cheap and being familiar with the course, I know what to expect. This time was really bad. Neither of the other two singles at the same time wanted to pair up, so I teed off and played the first 4 holes before catching up to an older couple. They politely offered to let me pass which I did once finished with the fifth hole. I then teed off on 6 and wound up behind a single, waiting to take his second shot on the fairway. There was a group of 6, yes 6, on the green and a foursome on the next hole. I skipped past it all, teed off on 8 and wound up behind two slow groups of two and left before even finishing the 9th hole. Unbelievably SLOW play, no organization for pace at all. The course was chewed up everywhere, the greens have little weeds which makes putting tough and hole 14 was closed because of weather that happened a week ago. It all just culminated with me making a decision to leave and not deal with a death march of an afternoon .
Normally, I am pretty patient, but this time it was exceedingly awful. I’ll pay more money in the future and hopefully have a much more pleasant experience. Sorry to say it, but Stone River just isn’t worth it.
Booked But…..
I booked our tee time for 3:07 the day before. When we arrive the course had no record of it.
Luckily it wasn’t busy, and we were able to play, but I’ll be reluctant to book with your site in the future.
Getting worse
Nobody manages this course. Tee times are whoever gets to the tee box first. They book them 7 minutes apart but nobody manages it so it's a total crap show. Course is beat to crap and nobody cares. I have been going out there for years because it's convenient to Rockwall. I am not playing here anymore. I will pay the extra 10 bucks and play Buffalo. Such a disappointment!
Played reasonably considering the flooding
We played the day after what felt like 8 inches of rain. With that in mind, I thought it played fine. We moved lies out of puddles etc and enjoyed the round.
Not bad for the price
The fairways are dry as a bone with putrid grass but was still a fun place to play
Needs water
Fun course to play just needs water cracks in ground will swallow your ball. Can’t do much about Mother Nature not getting enough rain
Good Public Course
The greens are consistent and are in great shape with lots of variation from green to green. Course layout and length provide enough challenge for me from either the white or blue tees. Very friendly staff. I didn't have a problem booking a tee time. Overall, it's a great value for a public golf course.
Course is in horrible condition
For paying full price I thought it is horrible. Played multiple courses in the last month and this is not worth the drive or the money. Found a couple of balls that found cracks in the ground. Every time the ball hit the ground it would kick up dirt. I know we haven’t seen rain for a while but unless there is a turn around they will lose business.
FAIRWAYS NEED WATER
LARGE GAPS/CRACKS in the clay soil fairways swallow balls. Some are wider than cart tires.
These soil gap/cracks are ruining good fairways and fairway shots. Who has time to look into all these cracks for balls seen landing in middle of fairway? Bring extra balls.
Greens were green, but they were inconsistent, with different grass types and cut lengths.
This is what I would call a “cow pasture course” Good Luck.
