1757 Golf Club

The day started off by them being 20 min behind on tee times. Not a surprise this place is always behind. Went over to the putting green and after 5 min a greens keeper came over and started watering. He was very rude to everyone on the green. Round was 6 hrs long. They were late because someone didt come in on time to open the golf course. I will never play there again. Too many times rounds are 5 1/2 hrs.

Course condition was great as well as the weather during late morning thru the afternoon. To understand the play you must play position and if you’re a beginner/first time playing this course check the course layout prior to actual play this will add to your pleasure. Lots of water but you can avoid playing according to the layout of each hole. We enjoy every time we play. The drive from DC to 1757 is well worthwhile.

1757 is quite the design. I really like the course layout, not many public tracks have water in play on 14 of 18 holes. However if they really want to make this a top notch course they need to maintain it better. The drainage is not great, so the fairways feel saturated when it had rained earlier in the week. Also I played the day after a really bad wind storm (trees were down and power lines were wrecked) and the wind threw my ball into the water four times on the first two holes. It was a struggle but it got better from there. The Pace of Play kills me here. When you have casual golfers hitting into the water constantly and taking twenty shots per hole, the pace is really slow. 1757 is meant to be a difficult course, but they need to stress playing from the right tees or make a few holes easier for the casual golfer to increase pace. I like this course, it tests your accuracy unlike any public course in Northern VA. I recommend it but i have my own reservations.

Course conditions need to be much better. This club obviously gets a lot of play but fairway conditions were we’ll below average for this time of year. The fairways had just been aerated which is ok but the fairways were very thin, way too thin for a course with this much play from all level of golfers. Hopefully the aeration will make them a little more plush. Divots not being filled in the landing areas and on the tees is a major issue and needs to be addressed. Greens were receptive but there were many unrepaired ball marks which is not the club’s fault per se but again some better attention needs to be made to this issue. Sand traps were in fairly good shape. A little more attention to these issues would make this a much better course.

Flat course with lots of water. "Like playing on an Aircraft Carrier---there's water EVERYWHERE!"

Also, everything seems to drain towards the water.

Tee boxes and fairways had lots of divot marks.

Convoluted routing, but well marked.

Nice clubhouse and practice area, but the course itself was not exciting.

Overpriced for what it is.

We play this course at least twice a month during the spring, summer and fall. I have never seen it in worse condition than this past weekend. First, the greens had been aerated and dressed without anyone informing us prior to purchasing the round online.... they were awful. It's understandable that a golf course must aerate. It should be mandatory(at least courteous), that the public be informed before paying the normal rate for a golf course that is in subpar condition BECAUSE of the club's action ... not nature. The greens were awful. The rough is still maturing and has always been poor. That's true of any young golf public course, but this course is no longer young. The fact that they charged the same rate for the course being in this condition speaks to the value they place on customers. Very disappointing.

Greens are a little rough. The greens haven’t been great for years though. Also allot of people are not good at fixing ball divots, people are just lazy.

I appreciate you just can’t bomb away on this course and have to think your way around. It forces you to make golf shots and not just play driver wedge.

Sunday afternoon round, About a 45 minute frost delay. even with the tee times being bunched up was not waiting for each shot. ended up being a 4.5 hour round. great driving range and short game area. greens were not in good condition. bunkers were nice and fluffy. fairways were nice. lots of water. not a very long course. dont need driver on most holes. overall just a very tough course but decent condition for it being early march.

Great course to play golf. Well groomed and greens are in excellent condition especially this time of year. Staff are polite, very helpful and friendly. A great atmosphere to show off your game.

Cold day, less golfers and Good course condition as usual.
