1757 Golf Club
About
Located just a few minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, 1757 Golf Club is one of northern Virginia's most popular courses. The name comes from the same year that Loudoun County was founded. The golf course is definitely a shot-maker's layout with a diverse terrain that has elevation changes up to 30 feet. There are several risk-reward opportunities as well. Well positioned tee shots will be generously rewarded with accessible approach shots but if you're errant, you'll have to deal with a tough recovery. The golf course is fairly tight so accuracy is a necessity. There are also water hazards on 14 holes and the rough can also be punishing. 1757 Golf Club finishes with an intimidating par 3 that plays over water to a shallow green. You'll need a bold stroke to avoid a watery grave.

Challenging short course - will play it again
First time playing 1757 but I've always wanted to do it having seen the course from the C&O bike trail numerous times. The course is relatively short (6100 yards from the Blues) but very challenging with lots of water. Lots of fun to play, good amenities, nice staff. Will play it again.
Good course with plenty of water
Enjoyed the round at 1757. The weather was pretty nice, but there was a bit of a breeze. Nothing much to contend with, but made tough gauging distances on a couple holes. Some short par 4s, but not all of them require driver. There are a couple reachable par 4s where "grip it and rip it" is definitely in play. Number 4 is a good example. Just keep it left of the water and you are just fine. Number 9 is a very reachable par 5 where you, again, have to keep it left and out of the water. The back 9 starts off with a tough par 5, where even the lay up can be in a tough spot. The course has a nice finishing hole; par 3 hole where the wind can wreak havoc on the tee shot...I overclubbed and ended up on the practice putting green! It was an enjoyable round where staying LEFT of the water on most holes will be your friend :)
This course will test your game.
A great course that will test your game. Water in 16 of 18 holes have water. Always looks great and has the best practice facilities and pro shop in the area. None better!
Beautiful Property
Freshly mowed fairways with bold stripes were a visual pleasure. Greens had been recently aerated, but the pro shop staff let me know before the round so I knew what to expect. Grounds crew was out there working hard, always good to see! Play smart golf and hit for your next shot. This is not a grip it and rip it golf course!
Terrible Shape, cramped
Course was in horrible shape. Overran, horrid bumpy greens and fairways that were barely 30 yards wide. I will not be returning
Just real great fun and when you play with friends it is better
Pretty good considering weather
With the snow melt and a lot of rain the course was in pretty good shape. It was sopping wet and understandably cart path only but the greens still ran very well. For early spring I have nothing to complain about
Windy 1757
Another warm winter day in NoVA. Weather was warm but windy. Course is in good shape. Greens are fast enough for winter conditions. Very enjoyable day.
Winter round
Given it was February course was in good shape. Sand traps are well maintained. Very few holes where you should use a driver. Practice putting green was not representative of the greens on the course.
1757 - small footprint, but the made the most of it
It's a tight course, so keep it in play. The range and patio are great to hang out before or after a round.
Nicely design
Very nice golf course in Loudoun County. Offer good service and good amenities.
Reasonable course, if you can stay out of the water
This was my first visit to this course. The people we encountered were very pleasant, from the guy in the pro shop to the starter, and the woman driving the refreshment cart. Unfortunately the cafe closed before we got there after 9 holes. Pace of play on the day we were there was pretty slow. Too many groups were sent to the #1 tee at the same time. There is a nice little practice green there to use while you wait, but we were backed up many times during the round (and I, for one, was not playing very fast).
Many, many holes have water,. The banks along the lakes were high, steep, cut very short. with hard ground. If the ball went over the edge it was gone. There was nothing to stop it. Also, on at least 2 occasions, the ball went around a curve and drained right into the water. On the other hand, as a player from the red tees, I appreciated the breaks on the tee shots. The driving range was nice with a mat that had a slot to use your own tees and some fake grass that made it more realistic to use to practice non-tee shots. Overall, the course was in decent shape, but divots were not being fixed. Unfortunately the sand bottles were all empty. I'd play again with a deal. I'm not sure I'm all that hot to play again at whatever their regular in-season rate is.
Wind-swept layout in NoVa
Played here for the second time this weekend, and was once again impressed with the conditions and hole variety.
From my understanding, they intended to acquire some more property, and had to squeeze in a few holes to make it fit on the site. That's only evident in a couple of areas, but does help explain the three par 3s in the last five holes. It doesn't feel too quirky, but could add some drama to a close match with the finishing par 3 18th over water.
It's been in great shape both times I have played, and the course provides a more open feel than many others in the area, with more water in play than trees.
The first hole is one of the more demanding tee shots, on a tight slight dogleg to the right with the approach over a stream. After that, the next stretch of holes plays around a series of lakes, with steep slopes ready to roll errant shots into the water.
Hole 4 is a fun short par 4 hugging water to the right. The landing area is quite generous (especially with a fairway wood), but a more aggressive play will yield a good look at birdie, although water lurks behind the green.
The 5th is the stand-out hole of the front nine for me, a dogleg right around the lake that usually plays down wind. A good tee shot is essential to set up an approach to a green with water short and a bunker long.
6 is a little quirky (a 90-degree dogleg), and perhaps the one hole that could have used a bit more room to breathe. 9 is a fun finisher to the outward half, a get-able par 5 with water down the right side.
Stand-out holes on the back include 12, a fun, drive-able par 4 with OB to the far left and a center-line bunker challenging longer hitters. A generous landing area with an iron or fairway wood sets up an approach to a well-guarded green.
15 is the stand-out par 5, with a straightforward drive and then a slight dogleg uphill and to the left approaching the green.
17 is a solid hole, a shorter par 4 that plays to a long peninsula-like green hugged by water on the right.
The 18th would be a fun finishing hole--the mid-iron par 3 over water--but unfortunately the tee backs up to the short game practice area, so the sense of drama is a bit deflated.
Aside from the course, 1757 boasts an impressive range and practice area. Unfortunately some of the traverses from green to tee are a little long, otherwise it would be a great walking course.
Not in best of shape
I never enjoy a round where the greens have been punched and there was no notice from the course prior to the round. The tee boxes were in bad shape due to over play in the winter when no grass grows to repair damage.
Great Course
The only challenge was the greens were punched so they were a little bumpy. Front 9 was fine, back 9 was bumpy. I am sure this will all be gone in a few weeks as they always take great care of the course. Lots of water on this course but playable.
Staff is friendly and service is always outstanding. Enjoyed the round.
