1757 Golf Club
About
Located just a few minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, 1757 Golf Club is one of northern Virginia's most popular courses. The name comes from the same year that Loudoun County was founded. The golf course is definitely a shot-maker's layout with a diverse terrain that has elevation changes up to 30 feet. There are several risk-reward opportunities as well. Well positioned tee shots will be generously rewarded with accessible approach shots but if you're errant, you'll have to deal with a tough recovery. The golf course is fairly tight so accuracy is a necessity. There are also water hazards on 14 holes and the rough can also be punishing. 1757 Golf Club finishes with an intimidating par 3 that plays over water to a shallow green. You'll need a bold stroke to avoid a watery grave.

Lousy weather; excellent experience
The weather was awful (very cold and very windy), but the staff made sure we were as comfortable as possible and the course was in very good shape
Nice facility but too punative
Facilities are great however the course is way too difficult (147 slope from back tees at 6,600 yards). Water comes into play on almost every hole. Landing areas for drives and around greens are often times very small, so too little room for error. There are too many traps; probably over a hundred.
I am a 14 handicap and hit the ball reasonably straight and I lost about 6 balls. Someone playing this course that sprays their shots could lose well more than a dozen balls. It is a very well maintained course but not a fun course to play.
Still don't get it
They have 6 min tee times. They still haven't gotten why people complain about 5 1/2 rounds plus some. I'm done playing here again!
We appreciate the feedback on your golf experience on Saturday; we want you to know that your experience was not the norm here at 1757, and I welcome you to contact me directly with your concerns at ghuebner@1757golfclub.com. Thanks to the almost-70 degree temperatures many area courses, including ours, set early-February records for rounds played in a day! I can assure you that our “skeleton” winter staff did their best to accommodate and assist all 156 golfers in getting through their round in an enjoyable manner. We time all of our rounds at our course (most were under 4.5 hours) and we are sorry to hear you were one of the few that experienced a longer than normal pace of play. We hope you’ll come back to 1757 to enjoy our facilities knowing we work hard to maintain a great pace of play and wonderful experience for all of our golfers!
nice course
Overall nice course, good design, variety of holes.
Usually in great shape, this time the greens were frozen, yes the weatherman got it wrong again! still, it was fun to get out and play in January.
Regular Fees are a little pricey.
The course is well maintained.
The weather was great but due to the rain the night before it was cart path only. Played a little slow. Unfortunately, many of the fairways were wet.
However, my partner and I enjoyed our round.
This course has good place.
I like this course.
I'll try again to play next time..
great^*
Great Course
Very challenging course for my level of play; lots of water. Still a lot of fun as course is in great condition and staff is excellent. Couldn't understand decision to close cafe at 3pm (without telling anyone or waiting for players to make the turn?) . Fast greens!
1757 (good year and good course)
Not overly long but some great challenging holes. Long irons or 3 wood a good choice off most par 4s. Best greens for a public course in this area. Staff is great - especially the wonderful lady that works in the snack bar. Would definitely recommend all skill levels to play 1757.
Great layout. Gorgeous setting.
The track was all that other reviews talked about. The friendly staff made sure we were aware of the layout and how to get to 1 and 10 which doesn't always happen. The pace was a tiny sluggish but being a twosome added to that feeling. The cafe at the end had excellent service and an outstanding menu/food. Look forward to playing again.
Good course terrible pace of play
This course is great, to look at "not to play at "
is very slow, we did an over 3 hours 9 hole, we quit at the 11th it was going no where.
you have people who think they can drive holes 260yars when they can barely get off the tee box.
I play with my 6 iron and I was 2 over on 9 holes, bottom line, they don't know how to move people, at all, and you are paying a very good penny to play there, for that money I go to west fields any time long challenging, and it moves nicely.
don't play this course unless you want to be on every tee box with your computer working.
you would not score here, is impossible..
since the wait is so long, you kind of give up on it..
shame.. such a nice course and terrible pace of play.
Well maintained course
Played on Saturday around noon. Course played a lot longer because of windy conditions. Cart path only slowed play but overall we rarely waited on tee box. Course was in really good condition despite some heavy rain the night before. Staff and starters helpful and friendly. Course recommended if had for the right golf now price.
Slow.....really slow
If you want to spend 5.5-6 hours on the golf course, play here. Multiple times a staff member had to come out and move groups along. Waited 5 minutes on every single shot we hit until the last couple holes.
1757 trys to pack as many people on the course as possible which makes for a very unenjoyable round of golf!!
Tough Course
Bring plenty of balls. Water comes into play on most holes. Fun, challenging, creative design. Looking forward to playing it again!
Fun day
I love to play this course but the pace of play usually steers me away. Almost always a 5 hour round. Course was in great shape and the staff is always friendly.
Blah
Didn't really like this course. It's purely target golf. The layout is just weird and you feel like you are on a golf cart race course. Carts whizing around everywhere, the facade looks like a wegmans, not really my thing. Felt a lot like Florida retirement golf.
Greens Aerated and Top Dressed
I realize that now is the season for Aerating Greens and top dressing them but by not disclosing this to people before making a tee time is a disservice. Especially when you charge full price for the greens fees. The first time I was told the greens had been aerate was walking upto the fist green. If I had known this, I would have chosen another place to play and come back at a later time (and had a much better first impression of the operation) That's why you get two stars. Be upfront with people.
Fix your divots.
The course has a very challenging layout due to water in play on most of the holes. The course can play fairly easily or fairly hard depending on the tee boxes you choose. If you can place the ball in the fairway at will play the back for lots of fun. If you are not sure where your ball is going off the tee box stay to the white tees.
My only negative feedback is the lack of players repairing the divots on the fairway and the greens. I would like to inform the fine residents of Virginia what the funny bottles are on the sides of the cart. They are used to repair the divots after you hit the ball, please use them!! The course is taking a beating from the lack of players caring about the course. Please take care of the course and help them keep the course playable.
Staff was good, course not so much
Slow pace of play and extremely challenging course lead to a frustrating day on the course. Greens and were very beat up. A lot of risks, but not many rewards if you put together good shots.
A pleasant surprise, almost ruined
My son and I were a bit uncertain at first, as the guys manning the bag drop and starting were uncommunicative and unhelpful. Turns out they were fill ins. Later met the regular starter, Walter, who could not have been nicer. The staff in the pro shop were incredibly nice and helpful. An impressive facility.
The course is tricky, with lots of water and muck. You can lose a lot of balls -- must play smart. Don't flirt with the water, lay up if you're between clubs. I'm looking forward to playing a second time, as I will know a lot better how to play.
Course is short, but the water and hazards make it play much longer. One thing I don't like, which is typical of some short courses, is the effort to add yardage at the tips by making some over-long par 3's. From the tips, the par 3's measure 200, 241 (just stupid), 180 and 181. The 241 yard hole is long by tour standards, and this isn't close to a tour course. It should be a short par 3 to have an appropriate mix, but the designer clearly felt the need to add some yardage. Thankfully, this is the exception, not the rule. Interesting and fair, if difficult, course otherwise.
A real nice round. It was pretty crowded Saturday afternoon, but the pace was reasonable. Until they let a foursome with at least 3 terrible golfers out on the back in front of us, where there was no space. It's a long distance from 9 to 10 -- you can't walk this course -- and when we got there the group that had been in front of us was reach 10 green, but a new group was now in front. Infuriating enough, and to add insult to injury they lost at least 8 balls -- not kidding -- off the tee. Could have ruined the day, but the group had the good grace to allow us to play through on 11. The group behind them was furious (I talked to them later), but at least we got through. Still had a wait on the par 3's, but not bad overall. And there is a practice area before the tee on the awesome par 3 18th hole, so we were able to practice bunker shots.
Challenging but nice course
Narrow with a lot of water and bunkers.
Somewhat challenging course.
But quality of course is very nice. Well maintained and friendly staff will make you enjoy this course.
Try to hit straight other than distance will result in better score.
BTW, it took me almost 5hr to finish the course on Saturday morning.
