1757 Golf Club
About
Located just a few minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, 1757 Golf Club is one of northern Virginia's most popular courses. The name comes from the same year that Loudoun County was founded. The golf course is definitely a shot-maker's layout with a diverse terrain that has elevation changes up to 30 feet. There are several risk-reward opportunities as well. Well positioned tee shots will be generously rewarded with accessible approach shots but if you're errant, you'll have to deal with a tough recovery. The golf course is fairly tight so accuracy is a necessity. There are also water hazards on 14 holes and the rough can also be punishing. 1757 Golf Club finishes with an intimidating par 3 that plays over water to a shallow green. You'll need a bold stroke to avoid a watery grave.

First Time at 1757
Challenging course despite not being an overly lengthy course. Luckily we were paired with a local couple who knew the course well, as some "beware" and "where to aim" inside info was necessary to avoid frustration. Feel like the design cuts some corners when it didn't need to, maybe a capital campaign will tie it all together. Confusing cart paths to tee boxes. Course in decent shape despite dry weather. True greens.
Nice Course - Greens need Rolled
Carts need serviced, had one die on 9....had to walk in. People just need to be more attentive.
Gimmicky
The course is a little gimmicky IMO. You need to know its layout in order to not get in trouble. Played the blue tees and hit 4 wood off the tee to stay out of trouble but still found it by going to far into a dog leg. It didn't show the pond cutting in on the score card. Reasonable conditions but nothing to brag about. I have seen much better public courses.
It does have an awesome practice facility.
White tees made it very easy to score
I'm a huge fan of this course. The practice facilities are great, the tee boxes are level, most of the fairways are tight, and the greens are almost always fast & true. Yesterday was no different. The greens were in the best shape I've seen in a while and besides a tiny backup, we didn't wait on any holes to play. I typically would play the blue tees on this course, but my two playing partners opted for the whites. There was a huge difference between the tees which made me pull out a hybrid instead of a driver many times. Shot the best round of my life (72) and look forward to coming back before the leaves fall
You can get better for the money...
Got a discount to play and even then overpriced. I paid around $80 vs. the typical weekend $100 + rate . Why I rated the course poorly:
Extremely slow pace of play. Went off around 7 and finished just before noon. Paired with some nice guys. The notion of ready golf is a foreign concept - and there were no marshals to encourage a faster pace of play. Hit/wait... hit/wait...
Greens have ball marks everywhere. Doesn't anyone else who plays here repair ball marks? Apparently very few.
And using the sand containers on your carts appears to be an afterthought for most. I went thru 2 plus part of a third. Taking care of my divots and several others. Since I was waiting so much, easy to do.
Fairways would be in better condition if people took a bit of time to fill divots, and given the pace, you have the time.
Tee boxes were pretty beat up when I played. Again a few scoops of sand would help. And it is right there....
Speaking of sand. Same goes for raking the bunkers. When I was in one, I could tell precisely where the folks who there before treaded and shot from. Rakes = another foreign object apparently.
Course is penal for shots that go just off the fairway or green. With 6 pars and4 bogeys, I shot a 91. Have not had that many doubles/triples in many years. Water comes into play on most holes as does thick vegetation. In some cases if you are more than 10-12 feet off the fairway, your ball is wet or un-findable. And sometimes even hitting the sides of the fairway, you get odd almost sideways bounces on pretty well struck shots.
Other reviews I read describe the course as "gimmicky" or "shoe-horned in". It kind of does have that feel.
Practice area, club house, snack bar were OK, on the upscale side which one would expect. Staff much friendlier to locals who play frequently than to strangers.
Difficult putting, fair course
Only thing I was disappointed in was that there were no rangers out on the course pushing slow groups. Conditions were pretty good. Large greens with some tough reads. Fast greens this day. Fairways are in nice shape. Bunkers perfect.
Excellent course
Great weather, well kept course and many water hazard challenges made this a fun and exciting course to play !
Over priced
For the experience the fees was overpriced by 25%. Great friendly staff, club house and practice facilities, but the course needs some upkeep for the fees that is charged.
very nice course
This certainly isn't the cheapest course in the area, but with a golfnow deal, it's a great value for the money. This is a top notch facility with a well maintained course and a nice layout. Not a neighborhood course, rather a wilderness environment tucked into the middle of Ashburn. The course was in great condition, especially considering the amount of traffic it gets. Will definitely play here again.
I love this place
There is water in play on a lot of holes, it makes it so fun though and the people are nice. This place gets the Mannyo seal of approval :-)
Course was in good shape!
Course is not overly long but there is plently of challenging holes on the course. The course is close to the airport and conveniently located off of 28.
Great course
Great facility and friendly personnel. enjoyed the day! Recommended
Lack of Rangers and Zig-Zag Course Layout Overshadows
This golf course is very difficult for the average golfer and its conditions are excellent. The best practice facility in the region. Howver, it's often over shadowed by the absence of rangers following the pace of play and the fact that no one knows how to fix a ball mark on the greens or replace a divot. The starter needs to emphasize the pace and the etiquette.
I hope the course reviews my comments and takes them to heart.
AGreat Day
Course was in good shape and the weather was perfect. There are really many narrow fairways so be sure to be accurate.
Worth It!
This course was well worth the drive for me in Arlington. The course is a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels, especially the 241-yard par 3. Too bad weather interrupted the round. Will definitely play again.
Did I play the same course?
Hard to believe that I played the same course as some other reviewers!
I agree that course conditions were excellent.
HOWEVER...
The design & layout is very odd. Cramped space, with about a half dozen holes with the same design - short dogleg around a pond. Some very oddly designed holes.
Practice area, while large, is hitting off of mats only.
Price was high $100! Same high cost for range balls and food.
Pace of play on a weekend morning was a crawl. Over 5 hours. No ranger to be seen, just a cart girl every 2 holes.
That said - it was crowded. I guess that location is a big factor - not many options nearby.
Awesome practice facility!
