1757 Golf Club
About
Located just a few minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, 1757 Golf Club is one of northern Virginia's most popular courses. The name comes from the same year that Loudoun County was founded. The golf course is definitely a shot-maker's layout with a diverse terrain that has elevation changes up to 30 feet. There are several risk-reward opportunities as well. Well positioned tee shots will be generously rewarded with accessible approach shots but if you're errant, you'll have to deal with a tough recovery. The golf course is fairly tight so accuracy is a necessity. There are also water hazards on 14 holes and the rough can also be punishing. 1757 Golf Club finishes with an intimidating par 3 that plays over water to a shallow green. You'll need a bold stroke to avoid a watery grave.

Holy Slow Play
Course was ok, greens haven't healed yet but overall wasn't bad. I drove 2 hrs to play this course and in my opinion it wasn't worth it. The pace of play was TERRIBLE!
This course has great character.
I've played here many times, but I feel the course is getting better as it ages. The greens were aerated, but they were in good condition.
Gimmicky = Challenging
Started play after a 2-hour frost delay. For pre-Spring the course was in pretty good shape. First time playing the course. Had to keep the driver in the bag on the majority of day after hit a few drives too far into bodies of water that I didn't know existed. Many holes almost play like a giant pitch-and-putt. Meaning, 90* fairways where all you can do off the tee is hit a 200 yard shot for a 100 yard approach shot.
Was lucky to get out so early as I can easily see why this course would take 5+ hours to play on the weekend. Duffers + Lots of Water in Play + "Reachable" Par 5's = SLOOOOOW.
Didn't keep score because all the greens had probably been aerated a week or two prior. And then they decided to put down a full layer of sand on the greens, so putting was less than fun.
Maintained well through the wet winter
Great place to play. You have to manage the course; therefore, it provides you with a sense of confidence that you don't have to Grip it and Rip it to have an opportunity to get on the green in two. The greens are in exceptional condition considering the erratic weather we have had this winter. If only the "Winter Rates" would stick a little longer...The staff is always pleasant and very helpful, and they are always trying to provide any assistance. It is surely one of the top NoVa public courses. If you haven't played 1757, get out there soon before the rates spike.
Good for some, bad for others
This is a love-it-or-hate-it course. It has a few quirky holes to be sure, and it can be very slow at times, not to mention high greens fees and a scarcity of GN deals. But if you can get passed that, this course really isn't that bad. It's well-maintained with consistent rough and semi-fast greens. The variety of holes keeps things interesting and they can be very challenging. The staff is nice and the facilities are very acceptable. Give it a try, you'll almost certainly walk away with an opinion on the course either way.
A little too much course for me.
I have mixed feelings after my first time playing 1757. The customer service was absolutely outstanding. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive. Seriously, they were top notch.
Likewise, the practice area was out of this world. It's a bit of a hike for me (I live in Alexandria -- the course is out at Dulles), but if I lived closer I would go there to practice as much as possible.
The course itself, however, was just too challenging for my game. I'm a mid-20s handicapper, I had an off-day, and I paid dearly. There isn't a single easy tee shot on the course. There's trouble on the right (some sort of hazard) on 3/4 of the holes. The greens were lightning quick, and the pin placements on this particular day were rather extreme.
If I was a better golfer, I could see myself going back once in a while. But until I greatly improve my game, I just can't justify driving all the way out there to pay $100 and get my butt kicked again.
Great course close to Dulles, Will be adding to rotation
I played this course in the unseasonably warm early december weather. I got a great deal, and I was very impressed with the conditions. There is a lot of water on the course, which made it very challenging, but I will definitely be adding this one to the rotation.
Great view and well maintained
Great course with large practice facility including grass/mat tee and short game areas . Course is Par 70 but fairly tight and always exciting with lots of water.
overall good course
friendly staff and well maintained course. Club house foods are not over price
Very nice course with interesting holes
I paid for the round on-line, but then had to pay again at the course. The course staff said I had not pre paid, but this was not correct. However, I did not have my on-line receipt with me. I will now have to go through the process of getting the course to refund my round.
A lot of water
Great layout. Challanging if you can't bite the bullet and hit a lay up shot.
Challenging course, but enjoy playing it!
Tough course, and I find it extremely challenging, but keep going back. Value for money, if you get a good deal (only reason for the missing 5th star) - got my round for $40, which is a great price for this course.
Good for the GolfNow price
Some of the best facilities, including practice, in the area. Course is well maintained. And for ~$60 on the weekend, the price was right. There's just something off about the layout. It's fine, but given the things I mentioned up top, I'd think I'd leave loving it. But for some reason I always leave feeling like something was missing. Not a bad option, though.
