About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Great Course
This was my first time playing this course, I was really impressed with the friendliness of the staff!
The course is in great condition! The greens are pretty slow but I just hit the ball a little harder!
I look forward to playing Vaaler Creek again soon!
Great course and layout I could never get tired of playing it
Target Golf
You should play this course at least twice. Once to learn where to hit the ball {lost four balls), and a second time to really enjoy the challenge. I'll be back!
First Time
Course was in great shape. Fairways in excellent condition. Greens in great shape. Guy working in the clubhouse didn't really make us feel welcome, but starter was great.
Vaaler
Course and greens were in excellent shape. The grass was the best I’ve played anywhere in San Antonio.
Nice Course
Vaalers is a nice course. One of the better public golf courses in the area. Greens and fairways were well maintained.
Phenomenal Golf
Each time I have played Vaaler Creek, I’m in awe. The fairways are lush, greens roll true, pace of play is great! Will definitely be back this coming weekend and have to get my boys to make a trip to show them a real golf course.
Course Conditions
The course in and of itself was awesome!!! The tee boxes (like most courses it seems this spring) need a little love. The greens were much slower than normal but believe are in pretty good shape.
Hidden Gem in Hill Country
Vaaler is one of those rare courses that greets you with open arms, #1 fairway says let’s get started, open and inviting, a confidence builder, then like all good relationships #2 asks a little more from you, strategy… and so it is with each remaining hole. Risk Reward, you can play this course all for fun or you can challenge yourself with every swing of the club. Truly a great deal of fun, price point is perfect and o we the last 2 years I have yet to experience the course in anything less than superb condition. The staff and s above and beyond, a sense of family prevails. My favorite course in Hill Country!

Nice Course with Slow Greens and Slow Play
I play this course 1-2x per year as the course has a very interesting layout, particularly the contours of the greens. Be prepared that these greens, while in great shape, are very slow. Otherwise, the course is a lot of fun.
Personal pet peeve - I have never played a round here in less than 4.5 hours. Usually 5 hours or more. Had to wait on at least 15 holes today.
