Olympia Hills Golf Course
About
Olympia Hills Golf Course is very exciting and enhances San Antonio's reputation as a golf destination. A unique combination of natural topography and man-made mounds and bunkers make this a super course. Native South Texas vegetation and golf course grass seed formulations on fairways and greens will provide state-of-the-game playing surfaces. The views are spectacular, with several holes playing to greens well below the tees, while other lead to a significant rise to reach the putting surface. Fairways, which on some holes are tight, are often sloped and guarded by bunkers. The tips will not be played by the faint hearted, but with four sets of tee boxes, the course can be enjoyed by all levels of players.

Lost the greens
They are working hard to improve several holes and have modified several holes so work can continue. This has been one of my favorite courses but when we arrived yesterday the greens were at least half mud. It is so sad I talked to a member and he said this started several weeks ago and seems to be getting worse.
Unplayable
Greens are literally black..looks like mold or motor oil. Two tempories…fivesomes common so pace of play is close to five hours. Should be closed and totally redone ..greens and closed holes.
Greens in terrible shape
Overall, this is a nice course that’s pretty challenging. But right now there are several holes that are being revamped and it’s shortening a couple of holes. The greens are in terrible shape. Nothing but dirt and mud. Staff is very friendly, though. .
The course is under renovation and has a few problems with the greens. Review should not be done at this time. Should be back to normal in 6 months
The course is beautiful and challenging when at its best. Much will change post renovation so it is unfair to review at this time. Recommend those interested in playing there at this time check with management on current conditions.
just ok
course was fairly good considering the construction but that was expected the problem was the greens if you can call them that without grass the worst ihave ever seen them
Greens and construction are HORRIFIC
Greens are diseased and unplayable, even at a discount! They are packed mud. The drainage construction on the course makes it not worth playing also.
Don’t expect to putt well
Fairways were great. Greens were worst I have ever seen. Would have been nice if the person taking my money for my tee time to have at least mentioned that the greens are basically unplayable. Such a shame.
avoid like the plague until they’re done with renovations
- was never notified about the condition of the course
- every single green was unplayable
- backed up on hole one and didn’t really open up until hole 7 or 8. even then we were waiting for the group in front of us. ended up being a 5.5 hour round
- there was a lady on hole 6 or 7 asking for donations. normally i don’t mind listening to these but she was very rude and disrespectful
overall very disappointed with the condition of this course. played here multiple times last year and always had a good time. i won’t be returning anytime soon. maybe i’ll give it another chance after the renovations, but it’s not high on my list anymore.
Greens are horrible
Every single green is horrible. Fairways are in great shape but the greens are the worst I’ve seen since last year. The pace is horrendous but it’s made worse by “members” driving into you and standing on the tee box when you tee off. The starter was cool and even admitted he wouldn’t pay to play there. Shut it down and fix the greens or drop the rates to make up for the horrible greens.
Worst course I have ever played
Hands down the single worst course that I have ever played. The course is currently under construction, and it should be shut down during this time instead of taking people’s money. First off, the greens had no grass and was only mud. In addition, stacked tee times led to waiting at least 10 minutes in between shots. Finally, there was a person on one of the par-3’s that was asking for donations for a non-profit which I found incredibly strange. While the non-profit is for a good cause, having someone ask for donations on the course is incredibly awkward and strange. Will never play this course again.
Will be better after construction
Course has great character and potential, but the current construction really dampers the experience. The greens are nonexistent for the most part. Pace of play is ridiculously slow. 6 hours when I played.Marshall’s were no help.
Needs leadership and the construction to be completed badly.
Terrible greens beatiful course under repair.
Loved the views and most of the course. Greens are thebwort ive played.
Poor Experience
While the fairways were in excellent shapes the greens were horrendous. Muddy and bare spots on almost every since green. To top it all off, there were many temporary tees as the course was under construction. The fact that they still opted to charge their normal rate is absurd. Will NOT be playing his course in the foreseeable future.
No as advertised
With moving back I used to love this course. Saw an ad on fb for it so I went to check back out and play 18. Wanted to leave after 1. They are redoing a few holes so gps is off. The greens as you can see in the attached photos were horrible. Every green was torn up with streaks of dirt though it. They need all new greens and until that happens I won’t be back. Not even close to worth what they are charging.
Course is in bad shape
All of the greens were in bad shape with dirt patches throughout. Major construction across 8th and 9th holes (appears to be for drainage) so these holes were converted to ~100 yard par 3’s. Course layout is difficult, especially for a municipal course. A few holes have blind tee shots and slopes on some fairways can cause a lot of slightly off shots to roll into the woods.
Do NOT play!!
Buddy came in to SA and wanted to play a nice course. This was NOT it! Website says there was temporary holes on #8 & #9 due to construction. We accepted that. What the course failed to say was that other holes were also shortened and temporary, the tee boxes were so hard tees were breaking, and the greens were made of mud. The fact that there were a lot of tee times available should have given us a hint the course was a piece of crap. The first guy I complained to didn't even know anything was wrong with the course. The manager came in and said, “we’re re-evaluating.” Don’t waste your time; go to a muni and save some money or pay a little more and go to a real course. Absolutely disappointing. The coarse should be embarrassed and GolfNow should discontinue offering the course.
I will not be back anytime soon
I am very disappointed tn this course...I have played rounds here numerous times in the past.. But this time was way differetnt
FIrist of all i was not informed that there was construction goiing on on the front 9. 2nd...The staff did not say or tell me that the holes some holes were blocked and that there are temp holes set up, even after i told the front desk person that i have not played here for over a year or better. So after hitting a warmup bucket, i was sitting at the supposedly first tee waiting to tee off, when i noticed a sign that pointed to the number 1 hole around the corner. So i FINALLY found the temp. #1 hole...was teamed up with 2 other gentleman. So we made it thru the construction and the temp holes finally...The other thing that was annoying is that a lot of the greens were terrible, hardly any grass on them, lots of bare spots..It was very disheartening to have to try and putt on such terribly maintained greens. Try putting some money into the course and fix a lot of it and it would be a awesome course to play. but not now...IDK if its the city of Live Oak that is funding the construction or the golf course...but who ever it is should be worrying about the condition of the course not how the water flows from one end to the other. I know for sure i will not be back anytime soon for what they charged to play..on a MONDAY afternoon. You want to have people flock to your course., FIX IT..tee boxes (which are not flat), bunkers (get rid of the rock sand and put in REAL sand). Actually make some cart paths from the fairway to the sidwalk, so that the carts dont chew up and kill whatever grass was there( its mostly hard dirt and not level with the sidwalk..and most of all FIX THE GREENS...they were horrendus...
Then adjust the pricing!!!!!!!!!! You want top dollar for a GOAT TRACK??!!??!! Do you wear a mask when people pay for the robbery???????
