About
Located just 15 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, ShadowGlen Golf Course is considered by locals to be one of the area's hidden gems. At 7,174 yards from the back tees, it is a long, tough course that will test even the most seasoned players. Some consider it to be the most difficult public golf course in Texas. The layout has a links design that is mostly flat but there are a few hilly spots that can cause some trouble, especially the holes that were designed with steep drops. The narrow fairways require accuracy and the well manicured greens play fast and are often bordered by strategically placed bunkers or contoured mounding. There are also water hazards coming into play throughout, including the wandering creek that cuts across the golf course.

Pace of play
For $70, not worth it. Quit on #13 due to pace of play. Group ahead was 4 men and a women. Did best they could but was stacked with other groups of 5 from 15 through 18. No Marshall to be found. Major rip off for the price.
Good Value, 5hr pace with crowded conditions
Great staff, good layout, greens rolling well. A tick frustrated with maintenance on every tee box for the middle 9 holes and having to wait, get them to get off so we could hit. Pace was 5hrs which for a windy/crowded day was expected. Still a good round of golf for the value!
Nice
Tee boxes were overgrown and the range grass was mostly divots, but the course was in great shape otherwise. Greens were firm but smooth and fairways good. Tough course. Maybe the best golf course sandwich I’ve had.
Course in good shape overall, tee boxes need work.
Based on how much courses have raised prices this year, this course is a good value. Overall condition good, biggest complaint is tee boxes either bare and chewed up or have 2" overseed on them that needs to be mowed. Greens in nice shape overall.
Good deal
Great course, they had recently sanded but everything else was good. Pace a little slow but not their fault. Looks like they allow 5 somes again. Always a good time when I play there.
Great Course bad upkeep
Course is beautiful and very challenging. Compared to courses in the area that are way less expensive, this was not worth the money. Understand the summer was not very friendly, but the other courses in the area charged less but have done a great job maintaining the upkeep of the course.
I would ask folks to give it a try in a few months which might give them some time to repair and fix the course.
The greens were in good shape, better than last time I played here. The fairways ok but the rough is mostly dirt. Tough conditions in the wind.
Devilish but fun
This is not an easy course. There’s almost every kind of trap/hazard imaginable. Water, trees, different types of rough, bunkers, slopes. It takes a lot out of you. But it’s real fun to play. A good score here is a real morale booster. Greens are in good shape. Course overall is well maintained and staff are friendly.
Shadow Glen Sunday
hard to be critical given the extreme heat we've experienced this summer, fairways were ok, greens very bumpy and uneven, rather slow. I've played here in much better course conditions so I know it will get better.
Best Staff
I love this layout, the course wasn’t in the best shape due to drought here. The staff is great and the pace of play is reasonable
