Four Mile Ranch Golf Club sprawls across a stunning landscape of gently rolling hills. The layout closely follows the natural contours of the terrain and doesn't use any formal bunkers, in their place are white shale ridges called hogbacks. They can range anywhere in height from 3 to 30 feet and they're not even the golf course's only distinctive feature. The layout winds through natural rock outcropping and a number of mini canyons. It's as challenging as it is scenic, though, with several blind shots and intimidating greens, none of which are more daunting than that on the memorable par-5 sixth. This tough green is obscured by huge rocks, testing not only your skills but also your ability to strategize. Four Mile Ranch G.C. offers a golf experience like none other in the area.

Always a good time

This is about the 4th or 5th time I have played this course. It is always fun and is usually in good shape. The greens are fast and you will have crazy breaking putts if you don't hit it near the pin or on the correct level.

Good value

A fun and challenging course. Considering it's history of financial trouble, it has been kept in very good condition.

Worth the Drive

A one hour drive from Colorado Springs, the course is in a unique setting. If you enjoy target golf, you'll love it! Very undulating greens with numerous blind shots. Great vistas throughout.

Fun round at Four Mile

Very enjoyable day at Four Mile.
We decided to challenge ourselves from the tips since the course was kind of quiet on this hot afternoon. Accuracy off the black tees was definitely a requirement; otherwise, you would be hiking off the fairways and hitting from shale areas. Hidden greens, wild undulations and elevated tee shots - typical of a Jim Engh course. Lots of fun playing here!!
Unfortunately, the facilities haven't improved since the last time we played here in 2011 - mobile trailer clubhouse with one restroom, no restaurant/bar area, dirt driving range. But course was in fine condition and greens were well taken care of.

We had a great time!

We were pleasantly surprised at how great of shape the course was in. Greens were a little slow but in really nice condition. Several of the greens are like riding a roller coaster and provided a good test with the putter. You will have a few holes where you can't see the green and must aim at the target poles. If you like canyon like golf than you won't be disappointed with Four Mile!

4 Mile Ranch

The course was in great shape. The greens were excellent, a bit slower than I expected. The golf shop and driving range are not on par with the actual course. Play in the morning as it can get windy in the afternoon.

Beautiful fairways and greens! The rough is serious trouble. Very open and a little windy at times. Have enjoyed this course each time we have played. Definitely worth the trip to Canon City!

Phenominal Course for the money!

I travelled from Colorado Springs to try this course last week and was so impressed that I came back this weekend to play again. I've played every course in the springs and only the AFA course comes close to the quality of this one and the price is excellent for the beautiful conditions and scenery. Worth every penny and worth the drive!

love this one

I love this course and every time that I go to my cabin (Westcliffe) I make sure that I play here.
I do not really care that they don't have a clubhouse- more money poured into fairways and greens.
Go play!

Severely undulated greens!

This course is all about the greens. They are some of the most undulated I've ever played, and I'm a former world traveling touring pro. The course is pretty straight forward expect for a few extremely strange blind shots!!! 2 par fives have the green directly behind a small cliff/hill and a blind par 3. I've never before seen a 217 yd par 3 that you can see the green.

I liked the course overall. It will certainly help once you play here a few times.

Jim Engh....

This is the 5th time Ive been to this track. I am currently an 8 that used to be a 4. I hit the ball OB a lot, but putt, chip and hit irons very well. This is a target golf course. Bring GPS, although you can get by with just the pin sheet.. Hit lots of 3 wood and hybrid. Aim for the wide part of the fairway. Hit the appropriate third of the greens and make a ton of birdies. Pump 2 OB and hit the wrong third of the green and make a sweet 9 or 10. Greens are rolling pretty darn nice right now. Took my Mom, who usually shoots 120. She picked up a couple times, shot about 115 ish and had a complete ball from the red tees. Lots of forced carries, but if you relax the rules a bit, a high handicapper will trip out and have so much fun when the ball drains out by the hole after a thin wedge off a ridge. I play from the tips and its a trip for sure. This course accommodates everyone, but if you hit it in the jive, just drop and don't bother a 15 minute ball hunt. Have fun, check your expectations, and take advantage of low replay rates when it hands you a beat down the first time. This track is worth 100 bucks, and I love that it is so affordable. Thanks Billy.

4 Mile is in great shape although the greens were a bit slower than I remember from last year. Always a great course to play as the holes provide lots of variety and nice challenge.

A Great Day

4 Mile Ranch is my favorite course in the area (I'm from Co. Springs). For this time of year the fairways are gorgeous and the greens are in better shape than the others I've played recently. See you again soon!

Great views and fun course to play

Four Mile is a Jim Ing course it has usual rolling fairways and greens that can be very trying if your on the wrong side of a slope. I love playing there it takes me out of the ho hum course designs that so many courses use.. A little far to play everyday but a real treat and well worth the time..

Windy

The course was in the shape that could be expected this time of year. The round was acceptable considering the wind was blowing hard with strong gust. This made hitting shot very difficult. The course will improve with warmer weather and water. Looking forward to playing after the conditions improve.

First time playing this course. Very demanding shots required to the greens! Crazy undulated greens so you must know your distances to get the ball in the right spots. I enjoyed playing here (black tees) and may play blue next time for another look. 10- hcp shouldn't play back tees. Going back soon.
