El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. par 3 course
Didn’t realize this was a par 3 course, other than hole 1 which was a short Par 4. Tee boxes lack grass and a flat surface, greens were cut to at best a 2nd cut, we tee’d off at 7:30 thankfully , round took 2hr 30 min for 2 of us. Looked like it was going to be a slow moving course. Not a real golf course., more like a field with palm trees and flags.
Death March
Playing here today was like a death march. The foursome in front of us was rude and didn't know the etiquette of golf.
Also, the tee boxes need some TLC and some grass would be nice.

Slow play
Bad experience. Slow play on every hole, course in bad shape.

Narrow, can be slow
Very narrow in some of back nine, with often coming accross from ajacent opposite facing fairways. Course could sometimes use a ranger to keep things moving.

Greatly enjoyed
Wonderful round, I had unusual schedule but they worked me in. They are always so helpful and accommodating. You have a very friendly staff.
But you need more water stations! What.is keeping you from doing it. I would have rated you 5 stars on every thing.
Extremely slow play
When you have a Tee Time the person who checks you tells you to just get in line, so you don't really have a tee time. They have walkers in the morning tee times so the pace of play is extremely slow. The course could use a little love, tee boxes are awful,.and the greens need some work. It's a shame because the course layout is well done.

Hello? Hello? Anyone there?
I booked through GolfNow. I arrived 25 minutes before my tee time and went to the counter to check in. The “pro” was facing me and but had his head bent down looking at a computer screen. He knew I was there but he never looked up. I waited 3 minutes before saying I was there to check in. He gruffly told me to sit down and wait as they didn’t have carts. I saw he was cordial to people he knew, and treated everyone else like crap. The course is just OK. In decent shape. The front 9 has the better layout by far. The best way to characterize the back 9 is that they ran out of room. The holes are ridiculously close to one another. I figure El Rio just don’t care about customer service since there aren’t many courses around at their daily fee level. If I knew yesterday what I know now, I’d skip playing rather than pay them my green fee.

Bang for the buck
Good little course to work on your iron game. Greens were in good shape, tee boxes a little rough. For the money, a very good buy.

Not our first choice.
We normally only play here when there are no other options. Pace of play is very slow. No course marshalls to keep people moving. On busy days you can't check in early because they don't have enough carts.

T-time of 1:16. We got to the course around 12:58 and were told to hang tight for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes I went to check us in and was told they were running behind - there were approx 6 groups ahead of us. We tee'd off at 2:05. It was a hurry up to hit and sit and wait game for all 18 holes. Course wasn't in great shape (however the season has been dry). El Rio will not be on my list of courses to play while vacationing in Fort Myers.
