El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. Very Playable Course
Was quite pleased. Great course to practice your short game. Course in pretty good condition. Some tees could use a bit of work, but otherwise pretty good. Play moved right along. Staff extremely friendly.
El Hmmmmmm
1st time playing this course. Man at desk was cool, then I teed off. Below standards even for par 3. This track will ruin your putting stroke. As I made the turn, they had put a 4-some, plus a 2-some in front of me. Decided to just play slow and enjoy the day, then staff member barks at me for parking to close to #10 green (no signs). After completing 11, I realized the (illegal) 4-some was just leaving 12 with 2-some still on 12 tee.
I QUIT...went to range, & this was in worse shape than course.....FREE WOULD NOT GET ME BACK......If they paid me $50 I would consider... then turn it down.
Fun time
My wife and I had a fun time playing El Rio. The course has something for any recreational golfer. Second 9 pace of play was very slow due to golfers stopping to get food and drinks after front 9.

Poor Condition
Played the course beginning of November. The tees were all sand; no grass. The greens were in real real bad shape, when putting the ball bounced to the hole, bare spots, only sand, and some burned out grass. I have played this course for many years; never in this bad of shape. I brought 6 of my out of town guests to play: what a disappointment. I hope you do something quick or you will loose me and a lot of my friends forever.

Good short course to work on irons. Greens were very inconsistent. Great time great weather. Slow pace of play though. Go check it out!

Worse Day of Golf
Snowbirds are back and you can sure tell. There were so many golfers on the course my two hour day turned into 5 hours. Snowbirds have no common courtesy whatsoever. A foursome should let a twosome pass through but if there not going to they sure shouldn’t be hawking balls or hitting two balls.

Bad shape
Sand all over putting surface. Many tee boxes no grass. We played a lot here last year. Was in good shape. Not now. Chipping grass in places thin. End of every hole had to clean sand off clubs and balls. I washed the clubs when I got home.
Also two days ago bought a large bucket of balls. Last year $6. Now $9. 50% increase!
Will find another place to practice and play.
Not worth the $79 for 2.

Snow Birds
Well it’s that time of year again when snowbirds take over our Florida course’s. They have no golf etiquette what so ever and back the course up. They don’t fill in divot’s and are rude. Someone needs to explain golf etiquette to them before they go out and play. Worse golf day I have ever had at El Rio.
