El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. El Rio
Thisbis a nice course with great staff. A little tough putting today due to aeration and leveling of greens. But overall a good day!!
Quick Beginner Friendly Course
I went out with a full group of 4 people but we still finished 18 holes fairly quickly thanks to the majority of the holes being Par 3/4. We only had the opportunity to use our drivers a couple of times since the yardage on most holes was ~175. Combine that with only a handful of water traps that are easily avoidable and you have a very beginner friendly course. The only negatives were that the layout of the course and navigating to the next hole on the back 9 was very confusing, and the courses themselves are not kept well, ESPECIALLY the greens and tee boxes. To quote my father, "I'm just trying to figure out if I want to stick my tee in this patch of dirt or this one and aim at the patch of dirt to the left or right of the flag." If you're a serious low handicap player, I can't recommend this course simply because of the greens and how inconsistent it is. We missed plenty off what should be easy putts due to dirt patches, bumpy uneven greens, and divots from prior days that weren't tended to.
Unusual Circumstances
We were sched to play Jul 8 but Hurricane Elsa shut the course to 9 holes walking only. Jerry in the pro shop was so accommodating and gave us a rain check since the GN voucher was for that date only. We resched for Jul 15 but continued heavy rains forced the same conditions that date. Personal injuries prevented our playing until today. The rain check of course was still good. We thoroughly enjoyed our round and are eternally grateful to the understanding staff that mad it possible. Our experience was wonderful and we highly recommend.

No Nine hole rates with 90+ degrees?
This course needs to offer couples rate for 9 holes after 3pm or so. They are leaving a bunch of money on the table by not doing 9 hole rates at all. They need the money as the course conditions have gotten much worse over time. There's many brown dead grass spots, plain dirt spots, and greens have alot of dead grass. Here's a picture of ninth fairway for example.
