El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

Love playing here.
I have grown to consider this my home par 60. Staff is always friendly and the playing surfaces are in good shape. Great value for the money!

When we showed up we were advised only 9 holes were open even though this wasn’t mentioned on the website. We were 15 minutes early and didn’t get on until 15 minutes after our tee time. The greens are in poor condition and the tee boxes were more sand than grass. The employee was not the least bit polite or apologetic for the delay in playing. They scheduled tee times as if 18 holes were open but had wraparound after 9. I play executive courses twice a week and this is one of the worst courses I’ve played.
Hello and thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. Please know that we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing El Rio Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Nice course
The course is obviously short but kept in very good condition. Greens were slow early (7:30 AM) but got quicker later in the morning. Fairways are in great shape. Nice course for getting you short iron game together
Nice Corse Worth the Money
First time. Price change to $26.00 same day. So worth the money. Friendly staff. Course was somewhat challenging but not very long. Fairways and greens in wonderful condition. Gives you options on social distancing, which we liked. Would recommend this course. Perfect for someone that needs a really nice course to get it back together. with their irons.
Great Value, Good Conditions
Great value! Course was in good shape and only major downside was due to COVID-19 regulations - no standard flags/pins or full holes, so it was a bit more difficult to see where you’re hitting toward. Most holes were on the front side of the green; greens are mostly flat. This course is perfect for beginners/lower skilled players, with only par 3’s and 4’s; longest hike was the first at around 270 yds. Most were around 180 yds. We had a great time playing the course!
Nice Outing
This was a very nice outing during this trying time. Course was not crowded, the staff was very friendly and we enjoyed it very much.
Fun little course!
In pretty good condition. Staff was friendly. Great value for the cost.
Second Chances
First time on course a few years back and it wasn’t a great experience. This time everything was up to snuff.
It is a very good deal during peak season.
Good course for iron play
From the north have not played for several months good place to use your irons and get back in the rhythm of playing and practicing your short game great greens good speed and true
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give El Rio Golf Club another try in the near future.
Great place for short game practice
If you like going to the range to practice that's ok but for me I'd rather practice under "real golf conditions". Executive courses are often given a bad rap because they are short and don't reakly challenge you. There are enough "nuances" to keep the game interesting here and the best part is the green fees won't break the bank.
P.S.
There is also a driving range at the El Rio that most executive courses lack. Give it a try to see if you can break75!!!
Nice executive course
As a snowbird I enjoy playing a decent course at a reasonable price—El Rio fits that bill nicely. It has decent length with a good mixture of water & trees to provide a challenge. Also has a driving range, putting green and snack bar. Sand traps In good shape and play fair. Recommend playing it.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Your feedback about the price of our course is important to us. We always want to make sure we are offering golfers a competitive price for their round. It is our goal to give visitors the best chance to get out and play more. Thank you for playing El Rio Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
terrible little course that can help tighten your game
We'll be back., This is a terrible, yet handy, nearby, little executive course. The lay-out is so bad, especially on the back nine. You wait to tee off on some holes just because people on the next hole might be teeing off. Yes, you might hit into people on the next tee box. Waiting is OK, I guess, because you wait on every hole for every shot anyhow.
There is hardscabble in some fairways. The rough is hardscrabble in many, many places. hard to play "preferred lie." May as well play the ball where it lies. The greens are not great, either.
Hi, mikesnowbird. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting El Rio Golf Club. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Cow pasture
My wife and I thought it looked interesting. The”pro shop” or counter is substandard, the building is dated, smelly, and run down. The course was horrible, the golf carts are dirty, and the entire atmosphere was cheap. We played 10 1/2 holes and left. Never to return. Don’t waste your time or money on this piece of trash they call a golf course.
Hi layzer62. Thank you for taking the time to review the course. We take single star feedback very serious at our course. You are welcome to comment further or reach out to our team in the golf shop. We always appreciate the feedback. Thank you for playing El Rio Golf Club.
Great iron workout
Yes par 60, short some of the par 4s should be par 3s. With that said it’s not allot of money and a great course to work your short game.
And yes they have cold beer not that goes with golf.
