El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

Nice executive course
Overall great experience. Would be better if flags were up on holes as the small marker flags make it hard to see from the tee. Also, clippings on the course made for a mess on the carts and clubs. Other than that a great time was had. It was a good value for the price!
A course for drinking buddies or iron practice
First time here. It was ok. Staff was friendly. Course was generally in good shape except the greens. They were pretty bad. Short course. Most everyone I saw were weekend duffers and drinking buddies who probably couldn’t handle a more challenging course. They have a small driving range which was ok. Golf cart was in good shape. What can I say? For a cheap course that I would go to for a warm up round or iron practice...it works. Not a course for the serious golfer tho. No use for a driver or even a 3 wood here.

Rough
I play El Rio on a regular basis. I have always found it a great value. At this time I cannot recommend playing here. It was a struggle to find a place in the tee box that would hold a tee. Sod was sparce at best. The fairways are bare. The greens are simply sand. The staff here is always nice. I voiced my disappointment and they said they are working to fix it. They let me know it will be better this fall.

tight course, very slow, dried up, overlapping
Much of the course was bare dirt, on the back mostly. Very tight course. poor conditions compared to other courses in the area in Feb and March. 2020. Very, very slow. You may as well walk. Sometimes you also have to wait to tee off because the hole ahead interferes with your shot and the safety of the other player on the other hole. or with your own safety. All that being said, we played here several times. It was a handy course nearby. It took four hours even though it's an exec. course.
el rio
Great value to play, mostly iron shots. Course in good conditions except a few tee boxes were pretty rough.
A Fine Outing
We play this course a couple of times a year and always enjoy it. Today was no exception. The guy in the pro shop was friendly and courteous. The course itself was in good shape, though the greens were a bit slow. It was very uncrowded, probably because of the heat. Still, a good time..
Good day
Most Greens were not in good shape.. everything else was good

Love playing here.
I have grown to consider this my home par 60. Staff is always friendly and the playing surfaces are in good shape. Great value for the money!
Go Elsewhere
When we showed up we were advised only 9 holes were open even though this wasn’t mentioned on the website. We were 15 minutes early and didn’t get on until 15 minutes after our tee time. The greens are in poor condition and the tee boxes were more sand than grass. The employee was not the least bit polite or apologetic for the delay in playing. They scheduled tee times as if 18 holes were open but had wraparound after 9. I play executive courses twice a week and this is one of the worst courses I’ve played.
Hello and thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. Please know that we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing El Rio Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Nice course
The course is obviously short but kept in very good condition. Greens were slow early (7:30 AM) but got quicker later in the morning. Fairways are in great shape. Nice course for getting you short iron game together
Nice Corse Worth the Money
First time. Price change to $26.00 same day. So worth the money. Friendly staff. Course was somewhat challenging but not very long. Fairways and greens in wonderful condition. Gives you options on social distancing, which we liked. Would recommend this course. Perfect for someone that needs a really nice course to get it back together. with their irons.
Great Value, Good Conditions
Great value! Course was in good shape and only major downside was due to COVID-19 regulations - no standard flags/pins or full holes, so it was a bit more difficult to see where you’re hitting toward. Most holes were on the front side of the green; greens are mostly flat. This course is perfect for beginners/lower skilled players, with only par 3’s and 4’s; longest hike was the first at around 270 yds. Most were around 180 yds. We had a great time playing the course!
Nice Outing
This was a very nice outing during this trying time. Course was not crowded, the staff was very friendly and we enjoyed it very much.
Fun little course!
In pretty good condition. Staff was friendly. Great value for the cost.
