About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Course was in good condition but the pace of play was one of the slowest I have ever played. It took 5 & 1/2 hours to play
Good course conditions
Enjoyed the round. Greens and fairways were in good playable condition. Cart paths need some work and are very rough in some spots. Also some signs would help. Got lost going from 18th tee to 18th fairway!
Course is tough. Greens are very good. Not as wet as other places. Balls actually bounce in fairways. Overall very good course for the money.
Nice layout
First time playing this course. Staff was friendly and helpful. The course played soft with the rains we have had lately. Greens ran a touch slow for my liking. The grass grain & undulations made for a nice putting challenge. Fairways and tee boxes need some care as grass was sparse. Each hole had its own character and made for a fun day. All-in-all I will be back.
Challenging yet Fun
Definitely will be back. One down side was with a foursome we felt rushed multiple times.
Sloooowwww play
We played as a 3 some behind drinking 4 some often catching up with them on tee boxes and still wouldn't let us play through...no rangers to help...happens often at this course...4 1/2 hour round that could have easily been done in 3 hours....it's to hot outside for this selfish stupidity ....won't be coming back!
Pleasantly surprised
The course has an excellent layout and was in good condition for mid-summer. The greens are some of the best in central florida. They were accepting of shots, plenty of break and rolled true. Considering the price I payed and the weather conditions this was one of the best courses I’ve played north of Orlando.
Best shape in years
Good course for money. Fairways in great shape. Greens are not fast but in excellent shape. Cart paths very bad.
