About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Course was in great shape considering it hasn't rained in a while. Cart paths could use so work.
Need my money back
Showed up at my tee time to find out they had a tournament starting and I couldn’t go out. Golf now you owe me my money back
Nice country course
We enjoyed the round, greens were perfect and difficult, lots of fun. Overall course was outstanding. The cart paths are in need of repair, some rough off-road required. Will play again.
Visitor
Played in the mid afternoon. First time here. Great $24 rate. That makes it a good value, although.... I am a 75 year old with a 16-17 index. I played the White tees which are 6,200+ yards. A bit long for me, but okay.
Played alone in just under three hours. Check-in was friendly. Carts noisy as they are gas. No GPS. I have a range finder, so not a burden.
I rate the layout a B; the fairways and traps a C; and the greens a B+. Was so-so until the 18th hole. Some interesting holes, but 18 was as much fun I have had on a single hole in a long time., and worth putting up with some disappointments all by itself. A 555 yard par 5 from the White tees! Over water off the tee. Undulating and winding fairway to an elevated green. Four good shots to eight-ten feet snd missed the putt. Still wort every dollar I paid just to play that hole.
Would recommend as some fun for $24 and a chance to play number 18. As no one was behind me, I was tempted to return to the tee and play it again, but I don't think I could replicate the first four shots!

Pace of play was fantastic, everything was in good shape.
Great alternative; nice course
I was staying in the Villages, and did not want to pay the $74. Searched courses nearby, and got a great price on Golfnow for Silver Springs. Was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and layout. Was challenging without being impossible. I would highly recommend.
Great Course
Another great day at the shores course is in fantastic condition and for some reason it was completely empty at 10:30 this morning never waited never kept anybody waiting it was a very enjoyable day went as a single got hooked up with a very cool a little bit older gentleman Stan and we proceeded to have a great time.
I put reviews of this course up before and I will stick to what I always say they have some of the best greens within 30 or 40 miles easily if not farther and the fairways in nice nice shape also it’s just a great experience overall.
Good course
Nice course. Started on 10 due to a long line to tee off at 1. Pace was ok. Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were a little slow.
Love this course
This course is a gym near Ocalla the greens are as good as any I have played within 50 miles. It’s a great layout and overall in good shape and the only reason why I gave it three stars for pace of play was today happens to be very slow sometimes you get through in 3 1/2 hours.
