About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Very well kept up course.
Fairways were in great shape and greens rolled well. Awesome course and great price. Would definitely play again!
Deep Rough
The front 9 had some really deep rough. On number one my playing partner and I lost 4 balls in the rough. Granted we should have been on the fairway but that isn't always the case on the first hole or so. Between the two of us we lost 7 balls for the day. Most of this was caused by balls rolling off the fairway after decent hits.
The rest of t he course was in pretty good shape , the greens had been punched and sanded probably two weeks ago and were coming along, but running a bit slow. This course is a good layout and it will get better as the summer goes on.

Beautiful day. I was able to start before my tee time. Played alone this time. Course in great shape. Very nice folks in office and restaurant/bar. always enjoy playing here.
rainy season
It started to rain after 9 holes. I asked the man in the golf shop to get a 9 hole rain check for me. He refused and his response was no rain checks because I used Golfnow. He wasn't even nice about it.
FANTASTIC COURSE
Great course. U prob heard had reviews. Disregard them. This course is great. Not easy , but great. Greens fantastic, fairways good. Don't miss this course.
More issues
I love this course, I play it all the time it’s in great shape the greens have been amazing for the last six months as summer is now here, the fairways and even the ruff has grown in and now are both are making for a very enjoyable round. Again he needs to understand it’s a job the man gives me an attitude every time I play and eventually I will stop playing the course as nice as it is to play. He discriminates against people that use GolfNow and I feel that’s not right if you’re going to make a deal with GolfNow you should treat GolfNow members like the regular players there should be no difference. I think the GM Will does a good job the course is in great shape and other than Ed, I enjoy everything else about the course.
Fun course
We keep going back here for the greens, they're the best around this area, receptive with a smooth roll. Had 24 putts yesterday total! Course does get backed up now and then but it's due to regular members playing a scramble every Tuesday Thursday and Saturday at 9 am. I've been behind them before and they play pretty fast but as a twosome you need to expect delays...other than that, we love the layout, course always has cold water to drink on several holes so even in this heat, we were able to complete our round in just over 3 hours.
Great course for the price
Visiting family that live in the Villages, easy drive to the course. The first appearance driving up was an older course that needs to renovations to the club house. The course was in pretty good shape, the tee boxes need some work as do the bunkers. However, the fairway and greens were in great shape. I would pay to play here again.
