Hidden gem
This is a must play short course in Manatee County.
Fun place for the short game
Fun vibes to chip and pitch around. Friendly members all having a good time and enjoying the round, drinking and rocking out. Scratches the golf itch but don’t expect to bomb any, nice for what it is- a shorty course. Back 9 greens are rough but still navigable. Check it out, esp if you have a beginner with ya.
Solid for an executive course
My only complaints would be regarding the greens. They were extremely slow, and many of them seemed to have weeds growing on them. Also, most of the greens were quite small, and some of the pin placements were ridiculous. A couple of the pins were only 5 feet from the fringe. Good value for the price, though, and a very pleasant atmosphere.
Great weather, great carts, terrible greens
Staff was nice, weather in Palmetto is often beautiful, but the greens, especially the back-9, where terrible. Borderline unplayable but oh well. Still not super upset, its cheap as heck, but maybe up the prices a bit and fix the greens?
Poor condition
I’ve played this course a few times but, haven’t played it in about six weeks. It was in descent shape previously but, was in awful condition this time. The tee boxes and fairways were either in cut or Han no grass at all. The greens were hairy with crab grass and burnt out sections. I paid $40 for an afternoon tee time and that was over priced. As someone who works at a Troon owned golf course I would say the owner of this course has given up on maintaining it. It’s a shame, I just can’t recommend this course
Have played this course twice before. Staff is great friendly and courteous. Love that times are always right on. Never have to wait. Pace of play very good. Will enjoy coming back to play again.
Hidden Gem, Exec 18
Welcoming staff, full amenities, new carts, and the course played great. Tight but fair fairways, and some nice longer par 3’s made this course play tougher than on paper. Challenging holes and we did use every club in our bag as Warren, the starter, noted we would. Pace was good and made for an enjoyable 3-3.5 hr round, never waiting or feeling pushed. Some tee boxes could be moved (whites are over worn on some holes) as well as several greens on the back nine not matching the great condition of the front 9, but our threesome from Pinellas enjoyed this course and will be back soon! Bring water balls… lots and lots of water balls!
Lunch in the clubhouse restaurant/pub overlooking the course bookended this wonderful morning on a picturesque Florida course.
