Bay Point Golf Club's Nicklaus Course at Sheraton Bay Point Resort is the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida. The golf course was formerly Lagoon Legend, which had a reputation for being one of the Florida Panhandle's toughest layouts. In 2004, the golf course closed and underwent a major renovation by the Nicklaus Design team. It reopened a year later with rave reviews. The redesign included restructuring the tees, greens, and bunkers and also re-contouring the fairways. The scenic landscape of scrub oaks, towering pines, and saltwater marshes was carefully preserved though. The golf course maintained the challenging aspects of the original but infused a play-ability that makes it accessible to all skill levels. Also like the former course, the new Nicklaus design offers the same stunning views of St. Andrew's Bay. In the fall of 2018, the Nicklaus Course completed a greens conversion to Tif-Eagle Bermuda-grass greens to bring championship greens to a championship course. Bay Point Golf Club has won the Panama City News Herald's "Best of Bay" in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Nicklaus Course has hosted US Open Local qualifiers and is a home course of the FSU Women's Golf Team and will host their Division 1 Invitational in February of 2020.

Staff was really helpful and friendly. Cart was in good shape. Course played well, was in good shape. Lots of water hazards, 16 out of 18 holes have water. Course does not turn at the clubhouse on 9, so take whatever you might need with you. We only saw the bev cart once on the course. Glad I took Gatorade with me.

Nice Layout “ FIRE THE GREENS KEEPER”

Nice course layout, and in nice shape. The Greens Keeper sucks and should be fired. The practice green is better than all the greens.

They are:

Very Slow / Long Grass

Not mowed and if the do mow they cut high

The grass is fine, no brown spots etc.

Bottom line, when you play a nice course you expect the greens to roll. Very frustrating to watch the ball stop on all putts.

If you are looking for an easy round, this course isn't for you. Water hazards on all but a few holes, lots of deep bunkers. But in great shape. Everything well manicured.

All around fun course!

Started off great with excellent food at the on course restaurant. Grab what you need as there is no other opportunities to grab food and drink outside beverage cart. Course layout was so much fun. Can’t wait to come back and play again.

Nice course, would play again

This was a nice course and in good shape. Lots of water! I think 16 of the holes had water. I found all of them... The course layout does not have a turn at 9 near the club house, so grab whatever you want to take with you. We only saw the bev cart once. Glad I brought my own Gatorade. I enjoyed the course and would play it again.
