About
Bay Point Golf Club's Nicklaus Course at Sheraton Bay Point Resort is the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida. The golf course was formerly Lagoon Legend, which had a reputation for being one of the Florida Panhandle's toughest layouts. In 2004, the golf course closed and underwent a major renovation by the Nicklaus Design team. It reopened a year later with rave reviews. The redesign included restructuring the tees, greens, and bunkers and also re-contouring the fairways. The scenic landscape of scrub oaks, towering pines, and saltwater marshes was carefully preserved though. The golf course maintained the challenging aspects of the original but infused a play-ability that makes it accessible to all skill levels. Also like the former course, the new Nicklaus design offers the same stunning views of St. Andrew's Bay. In the fall of 2018, the Nicklaus Course completed a greens conversion to Tif-Eagle Bermuda-grass greens to bring championship greens to a championship course. Bay Point Golf Club has won the Panama City News Herald's "Best of Bay" in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Nicklaus Course has hosted US Open Local qualifiers and is a home course of the FSU Women's Golf Team and will host their Division 1 Invitational in February of 2020.

Disappointed
Sand traps were full of footprints and no rake in sight. 5 some playing in front of us made the last 5 holes an eternity.
Very slow greens
I was expecting nicely cut and rolled greens as one gets with a championship caliber course such as the Nicklaus course. Great layout, just super slow rolling on the dance floor.

The course was in great shape. The fairways and greens were very nice.
Course Has Holes You Have to Be creative
I played as a single and had a great round. The course was in great shape and the greens rolled really well. To not rush players in front i was afforded a few extra shots on some holes. This was my 3rd time playing this course and will be back.

Always a good course
I have enjoyed many rounds of golf in my 20 years living in Bay county. Bay Point has continued to be one of the best golf course for both challenge and value.

Love the course but pace was super slow. 5 additional minutes between groups would help.
Challenging resort course
This course is a good test of your golf skills. The fairways are reasonably generous, but approach shots can be blind if you're not in the right side of the hole. Lots of water in play with several forced carries. This is one you should either play more than once to get familiar with it, or with someone who knows the course. Otherwise, expect to lose quiye a few ball in your round. The course was wet due to heavy rain this week, and the greens were very slow. However, it was in generally good condition.
