Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of native wetlands, an abundance of hardwood trees, and a generous smattering of meandering creeks and sparkling lakes. The beautiful terrain sets it apart from other golf courses in the Atlanta area. The course is known for the numerous grass-walled bunkers filled with pristine white sand that are strategically placed throughout. The player-friendly greens are wide and approachable, but there is the occasional multi-tier to watch out for. The generous nature of the greens also allows for a variety of pin placements. The natural features of the landscape at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club not only provide beautiful scenery but they also make for a more interesting game since they require you to get creative with your shot-making, especially when trying to figure out how to handle some of the tricky carries.

Always ready for golf !! Photo submitted by moorem815 on 07/22/2018
Pace of play
I have played here many times and it is a fun course, usually in good shape. However, as most courses do when struggling for money, they overbook and/or refuse to enforce pace of play. I hit the 5 hour mark on the 16th hole and had to stop my round. I called the clubhouse and they said they would send a marshall, we never saw any Marshall. I even asked for a rain check for 9 holes but since I was on the 12th hole I was denied. I will make sure I don't recommend weekend golf on this course to anyone. They think having a starter at hole 1 is important, it means nothing if you won't enforce pace throughout the round. Backwoods Georgia golf as usual....sigh
Staff was extremely friendly!
Upon entering Crystal Lakes, I found that everyone in the clubhouse was extremely friendly! After booking on GolfNow, my cart keys were ready upon arrival. Can't wait to return during the Spring to see the true beauty of the course.
This course has some challenging holes that I loved
We played on a Wednesday, after a heavy rain on Tuesday. The course was well drained with a few moist area on various fairways. Play was cart path only for the entire course, but it was a sunny day with temperatures in the high 50's and a lovely day. Love hole #8, par 5, made a birdie this outing. Overall, the course was really nice, not crowded and my group was able to really take our time and enjoy the course.
I Won't Go Back To This Unprofessional Club
Management routinely are unprofessional and have no qualms about "lie first, deal with the consequences later" strategy. This course over books and squeezes golfers on the course in front of scheduled tee times which causes confusion and frustration to customers on the course. It has happened to my groups the last 2 visits. We won't go back.
Awwome Course!!
Played Crystal lakes CC...this course is well kept..it has a nice layout and is friendly for any players from low to high handicappers. It was very busy and we had a frost delay early in the morning...it would be nice if there was a first tee starter to coordinate the order of tee times ...it was very congested at the first tee with about 30 players and confusion over what order each 4some was in. Great time for all once we got going!!...We always love Crystal Lakes!!!
Enjoyable and refreshing course!
I'm an average golfer, but I've played enough courses to appreciate a well-maintained and challenging course. And the deal we get on Golfnow keeps us coming back!
the course was in good shape all around
Greens were consistent. Fairways all nicely maintained. Had a slow 4some in front of us that never offered us to play thru, hence the long round. Will play again soon.
Needs Service
We were held up all day by a foursome who played blues when they should have been plying whites. Ranger was called and did little to help. No beverage service on a packed Saturday, dumb on their part especially when you never pass the club house at the turn. Greens in good shape, bunkers needed raking, middle of fairway bunkers need grass cut around them, lost two balls in the middle of the fairway in the bunker fringes. Nice layout, friendly pro shop staff, friendly cart guys at the end. Definitely will be back. -Josh B.
great value
this is a great all around course! the course has a great mix of challenging and moderatly easy holes. the greens are good and fast with very little bare spotts. they were dormant while i was playing but a little green was trying to peak thru; although you will want to do some house keeping before you putt, as some people havent been repairing thier ball marks. number 10 tee is not at the clubhouse and there was no refreshment cart when i played, so if you think you might get hungry on the back side, bring something for yourself.GO PLAY!
very long from the back tees. course was in good condition
very challenging course.. great course to play after a great deal of rain.. super drainage system..
Great Cource to play
Disbite the rain the cource was in great shape. Greens rolling nice.
It is a shame they opened in a bad economy
I like the course. Have played it 6 times including when it first opened. The conditions have deteriorated due to financial circumstances, but they still try hard for being short staffed and to play for less than a cart fee is an incredible bargain. The greens were a 6, the fairways a 7, the rough a 7 and the traps were inconsistent because only half were raked, Still a great value and a pretty golf course
nice layout, but no return to club house at turn
course very challenging. no ball washers on course. greens were
spotty and had a lot of unrepaired ball marks. clubhouse and
restaurant were spacious and well maintained.
Somewhat difficult but fun...
The worst part about this course for me, coming from Atlanta, is the traffic. It took us 30 min to go 2 miles from the course to the on ramp. For some reason there always seems to be stop and go traffic and takes way too long to get there and back. The staff in the pro shop is probably the friendliest we have ever encountered. The course is challenging but not overly hard. Greens need some help, but not the worst I have seen plus we played in the winter so it was expected. I would love to play again once it warms up, but not worth sitting in traffic for an hour. If you have an entire day to waste, definitely check it out!
Difficult but fair
Played this course from the tips. It is long on the scorecard but can be cut short with course knowledge and hitting to the right spots. My first time playing here in 5+ years but I would definitely like to come back before another 5 years. I would want to see it when it's green because it is brown right now.
The course is challenging for sure
Great greens, very fast. Great condition in bunkers, soft sand in all bunkers. Overall great outing for a great price, even better when you take advantage of Golfnow rates.
The greens were in great shape
The course was in great shape. They cut down some of the bushes along some holes so I could get back some of the balls I have lost in the past. Only dissapointment was they cut out the free range balls that's what made Crystal Lake one of the best value around.
Crystal Lake is a real pleasure to play, easy to get to and high value for the fee.
We enjoyed the experience, all the way from warming up on the range right by the pro shop though our post-round lunch in the club house. The friendly starter provide helpful tips at the first tee. We flew through the 18 holes, with a different challenge facing us at each tee, including well-placed bunkers with very playable sand and undulating greens well protected by those bunkers. The lake and creeks frame the course nicely, but their location doesn't get in the way of the game. It was a 40 minute drive from town, and well worth the value to play such a good course.
Picturesque
A very picturesque and fun course to play. "Major" complaint was for the folks that have never played the course. There is very little signage available for the golfer on the course itself. Quite a few of the holes contain blind shots. It would have been quite helpful to have had some information on either the score card, the golf cart information placard or downloadable from their website, that would have shown the hazard locations, sand trap locations, with some useful yardages, as well as the general course and hole layout.
Great condition.
Greens were fast and smooth. I made a lot of putts.
