Golfer Reviews
Course was in the worse shape imaginable. Hard to see how they are still on GolfNow. Fairways not cut, so more like rough. Greens patchy. Tee boxes awful. This once lovely course is clearly being neglected by its owner. And that’s a shame because the layout could make it a standout. Not sure how homeowners whose property values must surely suffer put up with this. Something needs to be done.
Abandoned golf course
My brother and i arrived while weed whacking was being performed on foot tall grass instead of mowing. There is essentially no golf shop for balls unless you purchase the recovered balls from the fairway that were lost. Restrooms were recently renovated and in good condition. The course is covered in rough and what’s not rough is piles of cut dead grass. The tee boxes resemble a pitchers mound or base paths in a sandlot diamond. If you do play, don’t drive on the cart path. You’re better off driving the tee boxes greens and fairways and you will not have to concern yourself with cart damage as there is nothing you could do to possibly make conditions worse. Save your back. The greens are a mixture of mold, mud, weeds and frost heaves. If you should find yourself in one of their gravel pits save your club and throw your ball toward the pin. The gentleman at the counter was pleasant however. At one point I thought it was going to close permanently at the end of the year permanently. I did learn the owner uses it more as a convenient large kitchen and entertainment center for family rather than having any compunction to offer it as a golf course.
I will never be back to this course. If you book this course do t save your money time and gas. Absolutely horrible they should not even call themselves a golf course. If I owned something like this I would be embarrassed. That is all
Don’t play here
This course is close to my home so I wanted to play on my day off. But I should have chosen my usual golf course. This one is horrible. The holes aren’t marked properly. The red tees (where I teed off) were either not there, or partially there. The cart path is in the worst condition I’ve ever experienced. I didn’t even finish my 18. Only made it to 8 because I couldn’t find the 9th hole so I just quit. I was already frustrated up to that point. That was the last straw. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND
Rough
It appears the gas hasn't been cut in months. There was also no fairway the whole course was rough grade or dirt.
Don't waste your time
Where do I start, the practice putting greens are horrible, On holes 3, 11, and 18 trees down on the fairways on 18 its a huge tree down on the tee box. All the fairways are like the deep rough cant find your ball in the fairway,. You would do better the sand traps have vegetation growing in them., the coarse is not maintained at all , its not worth the price at all, at best its worth $15.00.:You would do better just picking another coarse to play, its not worth your time or gas to ride out there.
Solid layout
This course has a solid layout and could be a beautiful
Course if it was maintained. Overgrown and weedy fairways, uneven and dirt/sandy tee boxes, and greens that look like no one has used a divot fixer in years. Bridges in very bad conditions as the wood beams were not anyone's down in certain places and there was a flooded part of the trail where we had to drive through that was really concerning.
Terrible conditions, very slow pace
The course was not this bad when I played 18 months or so ago. Unmown fairways to the point of losing balls on good shots off of the tee. Greens were in horrible shape with weeds everywhere. Good luck rolling a straight putt, ball will be bouncing all over the place. I’m not really one to write reviews, but the poor conditions really warranted one this time.
Not to mention there is no starter anymore so the group in front of us had two tee times playing together to total a group of 6. Round took 5.5 hours.
I would really recommend playing elsewhere.
Horrible Conditions
I’m not a picky golfer but don’t waste your time or money on this course. The grass is grossly overgrown everywhere. A dagger in the fairway is lost to overgrown fairways my back yard grass is better maintained. The staff have heard this over and over but no one really cares. Worst green I’ve ever putted on, grass is thick and weeds overgrown even on greens. Do not come here! Do not come here!
This is not a Golf Course.
I can't in good consciousness call Lake Spivey a Golf Course. It's a series of fields with a flag and hole you happen upon every 500 yards. It's a shame because you see remnants of what use to be a Functioning Golf Course. I can't imagine a scenario where I would return to Lake Spivey for anything associated with the sport of Golf.
