Herron Bay.... Photo submitted by moorem815 on 12/17/2017
Great course - very playable and in excellent shape
2 weeks from.aeration
Was bumpy on the greens, but healing quickly. Elevation is a challenged for me, but for some reason I score well here. Roughs consumed golf balls....keep.looking
Good course, poor customer service
Pretty good course and layout but the guy working the desk thinks he is king of the world. Don’t try to play late afternoon by yourself while the course is wide open. They will turn you away.
First cut
I found that when your tee shot drifts away from the center of the fairway, the ball would run a couple of yards off the fairway into the rough. Having a first cut of a couple of yards would assist in rewarding a decent drive, as the first cut would slow a roller, keeping a decent shot from a punishing lie in the deep rough. I found that drifting just 1 yard off the fairway, your ball disappears in the rough, punishing a decent shot!
A small “first cut” area would make it more fun.Thx!
Nice course
I play this course pretty consistently. Practice facilities are pretty nice. Staff is always friendly, and accommodating. This is a beautiful course.
So-so course
This course winds through a nice neighborhood. When a course is in the environment, be prepared for the least desirable land, the type that is wet!
I very much dislike a course the requires a layup on a Par 5 after an excellent drive, like 18. Layups on long hole should be required after bad shots. Driver sand wedge, sand wedge is not good design. Several uphill holes on the course, the likes I never seen before.
As mentioned, this place can be wet. I don’t recommend playing when it’s CPO.
The staff are very accommodating. The rangers and starters are among the friendliest I have encountered.
The cart service is infrequent. Be sure to bring your own water.
They should consider switching hole 1 to hole 10. The front 9 makes it difficult to get into any rhythm. The back 9 is much more enjoyable, except the stupid hole 18. .
8-Some
1st time ever seeing this but played behind an 8-some for final 2 holes. Course marshal watched them in front of us and did absolutely nothing to break them up - unbelievable.
Very Nice Course
Played for the first time. Carts had graphics of holes and yardage - excellent amenity. Course was in great shape. Greens held and were true. Staff was very friendly. Will play again soon.
Fun Course and Good Condition
Course layout is a lot of fun - lots of elevation especially on the front nine and requires good ball striking. Course was in good condition currently - just wish there was more water available on the course especially given high heat.
Expensive but very worth it
course is in incredible conditions right now and definitely worth the little bit more expensive price to have a great quality round. It is a long course that forces you to play very well and the greens are incredible making putting actually fun for once. Definitely would play again, great staff and some of the best practice/warmup amenities that I have ever seen at a course.
