Spectacular !!! Photo submitted by rickwilliams9 on 07/08/2018
I've been wanting to play here for quite some time. I've spent a lot of time on the lake lately but the lake views from the golf still were quite impressive, even with the water level down 8'. Layout presents some really neat tee shots that makes you consider risk/reward. Although more expensive, the included range balls and food is a nice touch. Planning to return on a regular basis next season.
Lanier setting the high standard for fall golf
Unlike many other courses, Lanier spends time blowing leaves off the course..
Greens were firm and excellent
Brilliant layout - it is demanding
Holes 9 through 15 are outstanding
Rough is perhaps too long as struggled to find balls all day- even with colored balls.
Staff very friendly and on a sunny day - lake sparkled and they are shoring up the course on 13th from the lake..
Okay At Best
Course is in good shape. Nice greens and the staff is great. Unfortunately that's about all the compliments I can say. The course is relatively short at only 6500 yards so we played it from the back tees. Even then, I only hit the driver twice during the entire round. I get that the course architect was stuck with the routing that was there, but the layout is goofy. A lot of layups off the tee. Crossbunkers in the middle of the fairway to force you to layup. I get that your hitting irons off the tee, but some of the landing areas are ridiculously narrow, even for an iron or hybrid. It's just a bad design. Practice area is small. Hitting off mats on the range and the chipping area is postage stamp small. If you want scenery, it's a good place to go. But if you want to play golf, Atlanta has many better options.
What an amazing layout but brings some problems
One of the most exciting layouts i have played in decades..
Still getting the greens out on the edge of the lake makes some extremely narrow fairways which is bordering on unfair.. Hole number 3 for example.. Still i can not blame them for trying to fit in the amazing holes. Resort course bring some slow play but the views are amazing - greens were hard and excellent. Hard to make a pitch mark..
People rave about the Great Waters course at Reynolds but this was better in many ways
It had 7 signature holes ....
Course provides breakfast and snack included in the cost..
Great course at a Hot Deal rate. Slow.
It was my first time playing there and although it had been on my list for some time, I could only justify paying if I found a deal, which I did. I think very few courses (if any in Georgia) are worth $140, so when I got Lanier Islands at $100, I pulled the trigger.
The value for the money is great as they provided breakfast, lunch (sandwiches and hot dogs), water and soda included in the price.
The pace of play on Labor Day, however, was horrible. There were some people ahead of us taking forever to play, and then behind us a group of drunk guys that thought they belonged in the Tour. So we were being pushed by the people behind, and waiting a LOT for the people ahead. A marshal came once, but did not resolve the issue.
The stated round time is 4h 15 min. We took about 5h 30min which is atrocious, especially in 95 degree weather.
Beautiful Course
Not anywhere close to my best game but still had a very enjoyable round. Course is challenging but getable as long as you are not out of position and I was way out of position almost all day but very thankful that was not the case for the par 3’s. This course is very picturesque with a track that flows along the the various shores of the lake. The course was in fantastic shape and absolutely love playing here.
Amazing
Easily one of the best course in GA. Truly beautiful with so knU holes along the lake. But also expertly maintained and awesome layout. Despite the haven’t rain lately, fairways were generally dry enough for a good lie and greens were super smooth. Usually they are lightning fast but still ran good even tho we had all the rain. Will come back asap.
Worth the money for the experience
Great value and great time on a good looking course. 10/10 recommend.
Superb Golf Course!!!
Great scenery with lake view holes, layout and challenging on every shot!! Must go if you are in Georgia! Staff was great!! Tony was super helpful! Course was in great shape, very well maintained.
Beautiful, but difficult course that is in great shape
Legacy at Lanier is a beautiful course with 11 holes on the Lake. It is great condition and the pace of play is excellent. It is challenging course and I consider holes 12-15 their version of Amen Corner. It can be a little pricey but overall a great course.
Overpriced, But nice Views
I’ve been meaning to play legacy for a while. Played for $160 Saturday the first. Seemed really overpriced. Several greens had a ton of past hole locations near the current pin position. One of the trash cans was so full you couldn’t put anything in it. Didn’t see any rangers on the course at all.
Also the “meal included” was blimpy subs cut into 1/4s. If you can get on for $70 sure it’s probably worth it. But truly nothing special when there are courses in way better shape for the $. I wouldn’t play again anytime soon.
