About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Played Front 9 holes
Went on as a single. Hole 1 green 4some, let me play through. 2,3 no one ahead. Hole 4-as I rounding to the green, The 4some on hole5 was scrambling to get started, don’t know what the were doing since the hole was totally empty, no one reached the water. After 10 min waiting they finally got to the green. I reached the green & they have not teed off. Waited for 5 min for them teeing off & reached the tee. They all four at the bottom of tee box waiting for next hole. By this time, they all were no longer visible, until hole 100 yards to Hole9. All players were teenagers. No Rangers were spotted during the round. YMMV. Staff was helpful, accommodating @ both at Checkin & Grill!

Good greens. Some difficult carries for older or less skilled players from the white tees.

Course is in decent shape. Greens are very good.

The staff here are good greens in decent shape just a little slow tho. Fairways need more grass my pace of play was great but there are a lot of slow players that come to this course.

Staff/ Course Conditions
I’ve played at this course nearly 10 times over the past couples years, I like going because it’s a good price and nearby. However my friends and I have repeatedly found the staff to be unfriendly and the course to be in bad conditions.
Nice for the price
I enjoyed my round. Cart path only after rain the night before. Greens good condition however a little slow. I’m sure they will get faster when they dry out
Golf course
The golf course was pretty decent; the staff and the other players were very nice. We got rained on pretty hard and heard lightning, but overall, it’s a good course layout, especially on the 9th hole. They could fix the bunkers, though, as they don’t really have any sand in them, and the greens are pretty slow
Cart Path Only
I like this course but it seems like it is always cart path only. Maybe it's a winter thing but it makes it difficult to play when you have to keep digging out 3 or 4 clubs and walking across the fairway to see what kind of shot you have. If this isn't for you find a different course until spring.
