Sugar Hill Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

First time out!
First let me say I am from Florida and we don’t have that many hills there but I enjoyed playing here. Some of the tee boxes are chewed up a little and the bunkers are really poorly taken care of but otherwise a nice course
Pace of Play Sucks
Why are we allowing groups of 6 out to play? That have zero golf etiquette and back up play unnecessarily, and of course no ranger around to put an end to the foolery. Guys hitting multiple tee shots standing around on fairways. I expect better but you’re not going to get it here, they get their $$ and that’s that.
3 stars course. Needs improvements
They had it in small print, and I knew the bunkers had no sand. Now, tee box, fairway, rough is all fine. I did not like how the greens are spongy and slow. On the plus side, its cushiony, and no balls marks in sight. On the down side, ball does not roll as much. The carts has a modern monitor, with GPS, but GPS is not accurate. Those gas carts steer like a brick, but you'll get used to it. Overall, its a 3 star course, with good design, and fairly maintained, with tons of potential. Pro desk, check in, marshal and all was friendly and professional. Course just need investment $$.
Great layout but bad greens
Great layout and challenging course. But the greens are horrendous. They are rolling very slow like a 6 maybe 7 and bumpy. If they can get the greens running closer to 10 and roll them ,at the minimum this would be a 5 star course in terms of layout, greens and challenging and value. I rated it 3 purely on the greens running like molasses and totally inconsistent from 1 green to the next.
Great course
First time paying here and I was very pleased with everything. The staff was great, the greens were well maintained, great experience all around.
Good Challenging Layout
I liked the course good layout. Some tough par 3 and 4's. Overall enjoyed it!
Decent course
Sugar Hill
Is owned by the city. Prices are good and the tee times stay full.
Ridiculous that the sand traps were not raked in the mornings. We teed off T 11:00 and no traps had been raked.
The cashier in the golf shop, middle aged black fellow was pretty rude and indifferent to the Korean man in front of me.
Kept dismissing his questions and abrasive. Interesting enough he was rather pleasant p me , a Caucasian.
He this
Is not the first time
That I have noticed
This from
The same black man. Maybe he's just turning got around but he needs a class in sensitivity and race relations. I will play there again
Punched greens
It would have been better without the punched greens, but we were warned. 5/30 the starter was not friendly but 5/31 a different one was.. Lady selling beer inside was on but pro shop guy was not. They need more carrs. I will be back. It was good,
Good for the price
Was the first one on the course, early morning tee time. Greens are in good shape, pretty course for the price.
Challenging
Great staff, challenging course for fairly new players, nice greens, GPS in carts, Very budget friendly.
I'm from a different state and am working here locally. i have played 5 different courses in the past 2 weeks and this is my favorite so far. Unfortunately i was only able to play the front 9 2 days in a row because of rain. Yes i was given a rain check to make my experience even better.
Challenging
Very challenging, tight, and hilly. More for intermediate players
