Sugar Hill Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Golfer Reviews
Great course
Love playing there a few target half shots but I’ve all nice track. Greens a little slow
Great value
Nice course to play or practice. Course makes you use most clubs in your bag.
What has happened to this course?
I’ve played Sugar Hill regularly in the past, but not in the last 4 years, boy was was very disappointed with how this course has deteriorated
I was extremely disappointed with conditions, lots of sod work around cart paths and a few tees which is fine, but the bunkers have been neglected to the point that every single one of them is considered “ground under repair”….the cups on greens look like they haven’t been changed in about a week, grass growing down into them
If they’re deliberately letting this course go, they’re doing a good job of it.
Likely won’t be back to play it again
Excellent course
Built along the hill, good challenge for the first time visitor.
The cart needs to be returned at 8.10pm (end Aug) hence 5pm tee time does not allow you to finish all the18holes during the weekend peak time. Anyhow very good experience with course and stuff as well. Several greens under maintenance overall recommended as one of the best public courses in Atlanta… excellent value for money.
Please buy some sand!
Sugar Hill is a challenging, well laid-out course and a decent value for the price.
It would be much better if the bunkers actually had sand in them. As it is, bunkers are like Georgia clay mudholes.
The greens could use a shave as well. They are quite fuzzy, making it difficult to judge a putt.
bunker
bunker sand condition very very bad
there are too much weed
Bunkers need addressing
The course was in pretty good shape. A couple of the holes were under repair for sod, so they were cart path only. The staff was friendly and inviting. My only main gripe is that the bunkers had absolutely no sand in them, all of them!! I didn’t ask if that was going to be addressed anytime soon but I do recall reading a review on it prior to booking a tee time thinking they must be just hard packed from the rain. Nope they are empty. All in all had a great enjoyable round.
Conditions
Greens punched and sanded
Greens not in goid shape
Cart Path Only
The course is very hilly and it seems like very often it is cart path only which makes for a long day. The grass may have been wet in the morning but by the afternoon it was dry. We finished around 5:00.
Sugar hill
They can’t ever have good greens here. I just can’t pay to play here anymore always hearing they are repairing but might be the worst greens around week after week. Slow play always here also.
Great value
Course is nice with a laid back feel. Enjoyed the elevation changes which provided a challenging aspect to a relatively short course. Only drawback was the aerated greens.
Positive Review Here
So, yes I've played this course several times, first time this year. In the big picture its what you'd expect. Its certainly hilly. And you have to play your shots selection for some of the "junck" or thicket, but thats what makes it interesting. Overall the t boxes were maintained. The fairways were fine. The sand traps had a lot to be wanting for; as the sand was gone and or way to much standing water. Sure its rained a bunch... but up on a hill you'd think they put in some drainage for the sand traps not to be ponds. But oh well, no worry... really.. again.. this course was what i expected mostly. The greens are "green" and maintained but the roll could be better. Could also be due to the excess rain the past few weeks, Keeping the heavy equipment off of them. Overall yep... i'll play it again. And the people were exceptionally pleasant.
