Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club

Layout is odd. Conditions are so-so. Practice facilities are terrible. Rounds under $50 are the best thing going for this course. I play here because it’s the closest to me.

We had a great day. The course was in terrific shape and the greens were amazing. The clubhouse staff was super-friendly and gave us a great replay rate. The course is quite challenging! We will be back for sure. Thank you!

I recently decided to take advantage of the long summer days and see if I could squeeze in 72 holes of golf into the same day. I chose Blue Ridge Shadows because I had successfully completed this challenge years before when they offered an all-day rate (though it doesn't appear to be available anymore, I was offered the same rate by the manager).

This is a great course to play multiple times as the layout offers an exciting variety that will challenge you in different ways and on several holes provide different options for you to attack the hole.

The design of the course is even more thoughtful and dynamic than I remembered with a wide variety of shapes and angles and the final stretch of a shortish par-5 and two short par-4s give you plenty of opportunities to finish your round on a high note, provided you don't get too greedy. The approach on 18 can be especially treacherous despite having a mere 50-70 yard pitch over the creek.

The sheer amount of elevation changes throughout the course can be daunting, another reason to play here more than once. From the uphill approaches on #2, #7, and #10 to the downhill approaches on #1, #3, and #13, this course really challenging your math skills and distance control.

The greens aren't a pushover either with some subtle breaks here and there. No complaints about putting on them though as they are rolling fast and true.

The rest of the course nearly matches the greens for conditions as heavy use is the only detractor from otherwise pristine maintenance. A few of the bunkers needed a bit of work but the vast majority of them were just about perfect.

The staff is fantastic as well and I can't thank Bryan and his crew enough for setting me up for a delightful day. My back may still be sore 3 days removed but the welcoming environment from everyone at the course--from TJ the maintenance handyman all the way up to David the superintendent--made for an experience I'll never forget.

The course continues to monitor the appropriate level of COVID restrictions. The pool noodles were out of the cups (though I still left the flagsticks alone) but still no on-course water coolers or rakes.

The other golfers I met throughout the day all said the same thing: this is a great, fun course that's a real challenge and an even better value. I couldn't agree more and Blue Ridge Shadows now ranks in the top 25 of all the courses I've played.

Course is in great shape! Pace of play was great. Price was fair. Overall a great experience!

We're about 1 hour away but it's worth the drive. Nice course, great conditions for fairways, greens and tees. Hilly and definitely some very challenging holes.

My wife and I found this course on Golf Now, great course lots of rolling hills up and down, fantastic views of the mountains and the valley. We enjoyed the day at the course, it played well, pace was excellent, greens were fast, fairways were nice and well kept. Only complaint I have is the bunkers need some work the sand was hard pan and they had grass growing in the bunkers. Of course, had I stayed out of the bunkers this would not have been issue. We enjoyed this course and want to return and play again now that we know the layout.

Course etiquette from other players Including littering on the course and pace of play and hitting balls into us constantly and when I say hitting balls into us I’m saying balls were skipping past us other than that the course was under great condition great layout great for the money

Invited a friend that lives in Virginia Beach and he was in awe of the course layout. Hills, blind greens, hidden slopes on doglegs. On the 18th, he was already wanting to play this course again. We tried to get in another 9 but no availability. All good, and this course represented well! Thank you for a perfect outing that your pristine conditions of total course provided.

This was only my second time at Blue Ridge Shadows. Staff was pleasant and check in was a breeze. Tee time was just past noon on a hot and humid day. The fairways and tee boxes were nicely kept-Their crew was working around the tee boxes today, but never hindered or slow my play. Very nice course and I will come back!

Me and a friend play this course really enjoy the pace of play the beautiful condition of the course and the course was friendly challengeable so it made it fun for average golfer and more experienced golfer I think you really would enjoy yourself one of my better outings

Always challenging, this course had something for everyone. You always walk off thinking you could have scored better. It is in excellent condition and the safety protocols make it a real pleasure to play.

Decent place, nice staff, good greens. Problem is the players are not schooled on proper golf etiquette. Slow play, scoring green side rather than driving off, not yelling FORE! when a ball is three feet from you off a drive.

The ONLY negative I can say is that I wish it was closer to home, which is roughly 2 hours away. The staff was fantastic! Free yardage book and explanation of some of the holes helped. I was treated like a member! The course was in fantastic shape! Greens were amazing also. The views were outstanding and as crowded as it was, still played in 4 hours. I will certainly play again! Simply awesome golf experience!

Well conditioned golf course that will challenge you off the tee and test every club in your bag. Greens roll true and quick and make sure you miss the ball on the right side of the hole or green as it’s a real challenge to get it up and down if not. Make sure you bring your “A” game to this beauty of a beast.
