The par-5 6th is one of the best scoring opportunities on the front nine after a few devilish holes. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/05/2020

Due to incalcuable elevation change, the par-3 10th is one of the hardest 145-yard holes I've ever played. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/05/2020

The course was very good!
The course was very good and the course was in nice condition. The staff of Blue Ridge was really friendly.
A bit pricey.
We fortunately played with a Golf Now discount. We thoroughly enjoyed the course, but would not be willing to pay full price to play there. There are too many other courses in the area that offer a better value for your money. I've nothing bad to say about the course's design or condition. It was a very enjoyable golf outing.
Great course if aeration had not just occurred.
A variety of holes with many elevated greens and blind shots. Hit on the wrong side of a mound/hill and you could be re-hitting. The front nine is quite "dry", but many of the last nine holes have water that is very willing to accept your shots. The worst hole is number 10 because it is a blind very uphill shot. Recent aeration made putting a joke due to very bumpy surfaces. I will play again when puncturing holes are not an issue. The round of golf took over 5 hours due to the issues mentioned above and probably one group playing from inappropriate tees.
Didn't get off the tee on this particular day
I have played the course before and really enjoyed it. On Saturday I had a 2:22 tee time through GolfNow, but when I got there I was told that they did not have any golf carts. Eventually I was told that I had to wait until around 3:30 since they had a large group (16) doing a replay and I would be behind them. The staff was very good about giving me a rain check so I don't have a problem with that. I would suggest not playing on a Saturday at this course, but recommend it during the weekday.
Staff were great.
COURSE IS CHALLENGING. GREAT CONDITION. Barbeque is excellent.
The course was very well laid out and shot demanding.
Had a wedding on the 18th green later in afternoon so had to start at hole 15 which was on the best holes on the course. Other than that, the staff was friendly, the pace was kept up nicely considering it was a. Saturday and I would definitely play again.
This is a great course with more level changes than I could count.
It starts with the 1st hole, you can't see the green from the tee. You also don't see the lake next to the green and the big left slopping hill that will take your ball straight down to that lake. It is more of the same through the front nine and it is a little more open on the back. I have to say that the starter told me all about the front nine before I left the clubhouse so it really wasn't a surprise. After playing this course once, if I, no when I , come back I will play several holes completely different.
Course worth the Drive
Shot up I-66 and find Blue Ridge Shadows. Terrain elevation changes abound in course layout. Elevated Tee boxes and down some downhill greens make one think over club selection. Most holes generous landing areas off tee. Multiple tee boxes to adapt for skills levels. Water on back-nine provides final challenges on last 5 holes. 18th hole strategic and visionally different. Nice condition, greens rounding into shape and hold approach shots well. Only work that needs to be done is adding sand to some bunkers. Fair challenge in pleasant and quiet surroundings.
Weather was super hot, but golf course was in fantastic shape.
The front nine is fine, but it's the back nine that is really a nice layout. Creative, interesting and challenging. Great course
Had a great time!
Course was in good condition. Played fairly difficult. Greens rolled true. Clubhouse staff could have been nicer. I love the elevation changes on the back nine. Will return!!!
Beautiful course
Food service was wonderful and staff very friendly.
Blue Ridge Shadows is a beautiful course with a great layout.
As a semi weekend golfer, I found the course to be challenging and interesting with many water features and elevation changes. I look forward to playing there again.
CHALLENGING COURSE - GREAT VIEWS
Lots of elevation changes. Course was in great condition. Green speed was inconsistent from hole to hole. Staff very friendly. Good grill menu & food. Beautiful views of surrounding hills.
Always a pleasure to play BlueRidge Shadows
The last time that I played at this course they were finishing up a pretty large outing. The only issue that we had was both carts that we received needed to be swapped by the time we reached hole number 2. I've played this course for the past 4 years and that's the first time that it happened,so this was definately out of the norm for Mike and his team at Blueridge. This continues to be one of my favorite tracks in the area.
Well maintained and challenging.
Great layout. Prefer the front 9. Will use all your clubs. Only down side is no Killions Irish Red beer. Very friendly staff. Tee boxes, fairways and greens A+.
Decent Value at Discounted Price
$69 including range balls and a cart on a weekend is a pretty decent price. Course was narrow, hilly, and challenging. Fariways were in decent shape, rough was often over-grown with some randem bare patches, greens were grainy/slow.
Overall, a decent experience for the value. Does not compete with the conditions of its (somewhat) nearby sister couse Bull Run. For the extra money, I would go there.
A great course for the money and in excellent condition.
This is a great course for the seasoned player. It requires accuracy and there is a penalty to be paid for errant shots. The greens are usually very fast and well-kept although they were slower than normal this time out. This is the most expensive course in the Front Royal area but worthy of the price for the challenge it presents. The green fee includes the driving range and putting green. This is not a good course for a beginner golfer.
Great Track
If this course was set entirely in the woods it would be a 12. The background vistas with the mountains is amazing. The undulating fairways and continual side hill lies make the course very challenging. If you could not see the interstate and local highways, along with some serious electrical wires it would be again a 12. While the roads and wires do not come into play they are still visually there in the background. This is a still a tremendous course.
Poor conditions
Overall liked the layout of the course, unfortunately the conditions left much to be desired.
It didn't help that the greens were recently aerated and sanded. so putting was extremely difficult.
The group agreed, not worth the time it takes to drive there from Northern VA.
New Owner with a focus on Customer Service
Played this course this past weekend. The staff told me the Property was purchased by the owners of the Holiday Inn Hotel across from the Course. You can tell, this new ownership has put some money back into the course. The Driving range is groomed. The Greens had been Aerated which made putting difficult. The fairways we in great shape.
What makes this course a pleasure to play is the staff and the beautiful views.
Con: Slow Play - it was a very long round. We had seen the Marshall once, and he never said anything to the group in front of us, which was 2 holes behind the group in front of them. It was backed up because of this group. I just hope as the season kicks into high gear, they do ask players to speed up game play.
