Royal Kunia Country Club
About
Royal Kunia Country Club boasts a reputation as one of the best and most scenic golf courses on Oahu. The course is perched high above the Ewa plain, offering panoramic views of the entire South Shore, stretching from Pearl Harbor to the downtown skyline of Honolulu to the famed Diamond Head. The layout rolls across a gently undulating landscape, offering a diverse layout of short par 4s and demanding par 5s. Water comes into play on a few holes and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. Its coastal location guarantees that wind will be a factor in determining your outcome. The signature hole comes exactly midway through the course. Royal Kunia Country Club's par-5 ninth requires three strong shots that avoid the numerous troubles from tee to green including bunkers, trees, water, and of course, wind.

This course has some fun holes.
Overall nice course. Some challenging holes, a couple risk/reward driveable par 4's. staff is very friendly (especially starter).
Needs better care
Large weeds in the fairways, sand traps hard, greens in poor shape. Someone is not putting and money to take care of this course.
No tricked up holes. Nice view of Pearl Harbor.
5 hour round but we were in no hurry. They had a large group of players ahead of us & warned us it might be slow. Plus we were just a 2 some & that made it seem a little slower.
Good layout and scenic
Booked on golfnow
Good bargain for a better than average course
Hole variety in good condition with scenic views of Pearl Harbor
Some Beautiful Views
Overall enjoyed the round for the price we paid on Golf Now. Definitely wouldn't pay full $150 rate. It's a nice layout that with a little extra love and care could be a beautiful course once again. Most of the bunkers were hard and could use a top up of sand. Some great views of Diamond Head and downtown Honolulu. Gas golf cart we had could barely stop the brakes were so bad . All the carts looked like they'd been around for a while, but had lots of power. Nothing special about the club house either. Having said all this, still worth playing at the right rate.
Great views - Well worth the drive
My wife and I played this course on vacation. we both really liked the course. It is a great design with views of Pearl Harbor, down town and more. The course was in well maintained and the staff very freindly. The course was busy. The Front 9 was stacked up. The starter sent us out on the back 9 first. We had to wait on #10 for a group making the turn. We never caught that group and nobody ever caught us.
Nice course
Nice course and excellent staff. Would play again.
great
Always a great experience at Royla Kunia. One of my fav courses!
distant views
many interesting holes-good condition overall-and friendly staff.
Fun in the Sun
This course has a beautiful view of Honolulu where you could even see Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor and the Waipahu Sugar smoke stack.
Slow Play Day
Played behind a club of 21 people. Very very slow . Would have appreciated a Marshall speeding things up a bit! Course is in pretty good shape.
The views of the island from the course are as good as it gets!
Excellent golf course.
Round played in 5 hours. A little too long than normal and temperature in the 90 deg on a clear and sunny day. Fivesome golfers ahead of our group were very slow.
This course has great practice area.
Stuff are very friendly and nice. We can use cart for practice driving range and putting green.
The view from this course is wonderful
Although it took more time to finish 18 holes than expected we enjoyed playing and looking panorama view of diamond head and blue ocean.
The conditions of fareway as well as rough were good but bunker not so good as the sand dry and harder.
anyway we enjoyed the play and would like to play again soon.
This course has majestic elevated views of Honolulu and is in great shape.
Staff was very helpful and courteous. Will definitely play here again.
Not as good as expected
The golf carts are old and barely climb the hills. Course itself is in B+ but club house and restaurant in poor shape. The Bar closed at 3:30 PM and we could not buy a second round of drinks.
food and beverage staff need friendly courses.
The course is usually in very good condition. Pro shop staff and starters are generally friendly. However, Marleen (?) In the restaurant needs to be nicer to guests who spend their money there. Several times we have come in because the snack shack has closed early. (Frequently closes early with many players still on front nine) She is rarely nice and usually quite indifferent or kind of rude. Food generally good.
Highly recommend!
Course is in great shape. Greens are playing well. Views are breathtaking from this awesome piece of real estate. It would be nice to have the bunkers raked and fluffed a bit. Sand was packed in some places. I would like to see a few more water stations on the course as they are few and far between. Overall, a great value and fun time!
Great views but....
Good layout plays well from the tips. Bunkers were horrible without sand. Like playing from the parking lot. This was a disappointment as otherwise a good test of golf with the wind.
