open with challenging approaches
I have been playing this course on and off for 15 years. It has a good mature layout, lots of trees, no water and sand guarding undulating greens on the small side. Fairways are wide enough to give you a good shot...........but severe hook or slice players will find themselves playing from the pine trees.
The course was just re-opened in August after many years of abuse. It is very playable and fairly priced. Give it a try, but don't expect World Woods.
Has come a long way!
This course had been let go for a few years now but since new ownership took over it has improved dramatically. I see many workers out there all the time working hard to improve the course and it is starting to really pay off. I could only give the course 3 stars right now for course conditions but I believe it will improve to 4 stars by the fall or winter. Course layout is challenging enough and very long if you don't play the proper tees. It has no water hazards unfortunately but lots of elevation changes on back nine and a good value to play here.
Feel good course
I have always considered this course one of the area's better "Feel good" courses. Basically, the fairways are wide open, it is not too long, there is not much sand that comes into play and there are NO water hazards to contend with. So if your tee shot is wandering off mark, or your fairway approach shots aren't quite precise, as long as you can put on reasonably flat greens you should score. That's what a "Feel good" course is all about. The day I played the fairways were is great shape, lots of green. The rough was still a little on the sandy side. All the greens were in nice shape, a little fuzzy and slow, but that just means put a little harder and your ball will stay on line. If you get the chance this course really is fun so go out and try it, you won't be disappointed.
For $10 Not Bad
I played this course due to a super hot price of $10. I recommend the course ONLY at this price. Ownership recently changed. Apparently, prior owners went bankrupt or something. Condition of course was pretty poor. Greens were "acceptable". Fairways were spotty, at best. Only bagged, salty snacks, sodas, and Gatorade. No food license yet. No beer yet. If the new owners put some money into the course, a fair price would be $20 for 18 holes. Very bumpy ride in the cart due to extremely poor cart paths and poor condition of non-fairway grounds. Chiropractor appointment may be necessary when complete.
Still needs work on
I enjoyed my game of golf and would play again if the price was right which it was. Greens need some attention to, however it was clear they were working on this. With the right investment this could be a very good course but at the moment was one of the weaker courses I played while on vacation in Florida. Staff and other golfers were very friendly. Did not use the club house facilities.
getting better each time
I have played this course for years and recently wrote it off because it was in horrible condition. Went back after seeing an ad stating new ownership and was very impressed. Fertilized fairways, greens being repaired, grass being mowed just a lot of activity. Great to see. Not near its potential yet but a vast improvement. Will definitely continue to play there.
New owners changed the course conditions
The course is under new ownership and they seem to understand how to care for a golf course!!! The front nine was in better shape than the back, but he new owners are doing a great job reconditioning the entire course!!!! Looking forward to playing again soon!!!!! Awesome start to fixing the course
poor staff
Even though new owner took ever, the staff continues with the same ol. Amazing how this place cant seem to hire good help. The only thing they do consistantly is turn people away. Extremely rude and arrogant counter person. Its a shame since its a beautiful layout.
JOCKO
under new management this course is becoming
one of my favorites in the area. fairways are 90 0/0
returned to great condition. only wish greens were l
larger.
Dried up Oak Hill
Don't play there. I played it because it is close to home and I only paid. $7..77. The fairways are so rough I could barely drive the cart on them. Greens are spotty and burned out.
Nice layout, poor conditions
This course has a nice layout especially for Florida course. There are a few hills and some very interesting holes. Unfortunately the greens are usually in poor condition and the fairways are too much sand and not enough grass. However the GolfNow hot deals price of nine dollars makes it worth the practice time.
Oak Hills
Nice layout. Greens were ok. Fairways spotty. Fair condition, which was better then I expected. Very playable.
Where's the "green" on the Greens?
First time to play this course. I did manage three Birdies on the back 9. However, the Greens are in horrible conditions. Why they even put the cups in these bald areas is dumbfounding. The Greens need a lot of work, the fairways are in really bad shape due to the baldness and sandy lies EVERY WHERE imaginable. Although, I will come back as I am teaching my 9 yr old Stepson how to play. The Front Tee separations will give him a chance to "keep up" until he gains better ball striking. The layout is really nice and easy for my game to have multiple shaped shots off the Tees...What makes it difficult is the lack of firm ground on the fairway. Perfect drives in the middle of the fairways are left with those "fluffy, dusty" lies with hardly any "solid" turf to strike on...Mentally, it will start to catch up on you as time and time again, you get penalized with a perfect drive, approach and GIR to be ruined by the course's conditions.
Fun course
I have played the course 4 times and still enjoy it. Not the nicest course around but a fun track.
Design yes....Conditions, do a U turn and RUN
I was invited to this course by some long time golf buddies and accepted the invite for a 16$ green fee with cart. From the moment I turned into the property you can see that its run down. The entrance sign looks to be original from when the course was built, pot holes in the drive up to the trailer "clubhouse"
. Their website lists a pro shop but there isn't one. Zero equipment for sale except for two fish bowls of used golf balls. A large driving range but the tees weren't mowed and it was very tough to find an even lie to hit from.
The layout is very nice with a lot of elevation and varying dog legs going both ways No lakes, ponds, or any type of water hazards on the entire course and its pretty wide open with minimal bunkers..
Maintenance is non existent here. The greens were horrible with more dirt than grass on all 18 holes. Fairways were dry and patchy and the tees are uneven and patchy as well. Then entire facility seems to be in dire need of attention. It probably was once a nice place but its very dated and completely neglected. Save your money and time and look elsewhere. These are the poorest conditions I've seen on a Golfnow couse.
Golf
the golf course will be really good in a week.it just got punched in sanded.
Worst course ever played
Not at all maintained. Staff unfriendly. They should keep cattle out there instead of golfers. Not worth the money
Fair course conditions
This is the worst conditions I've seen since I began playing this course 2 years ago, fairways very dry and sparse.
Twice in one day our clubs fell from the carts, it's happened before, I chipped a couple of my clubs and when we went to make a complain, the girl behind the counter literally told us we were wasting our time and she really didn't care. This is the worst public relations experience I've ever encountered at a golf course, will never return and will never recommend to anyone.
NEEDS COMPLETE UPGRADE
COURSE IN WORSE SHAPE IT HAS BEEN IN YEARS, IT IS FOR SALE I HOPE SOMEONE BUYS IT AND AT LEAST GET IT BACK IN PLAYABLE CONDITION. IT WILL BE AN ASSET TO THE AREA.
Review title?
They didnt know we had a ttime. The carts always die on course and they have sprinklers on all the tine during prime golf times like saturday mornings. Course is in rough shape especially on greens. Lots of dead brush and mud on fairways.
