About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. Much improved
As a resident of the community, I really enjoy playing Silverthorn. It’s a challenging course that keeps you thinking and makes every round rewarding. I’ve noticed them working on the sprinklers lately, and it’s clearly paid off—the fairways are in much better shape. The tee boxes and greens are impeccable, and the fees are very reasonable. Always a solid, enjoyable experience.
Too bad
Too bad it is not maintained. At one time it was a nice course
Sad
I used to love this course but I haven’t played in a few years and it was in absolutely terrible shape and the price was insanely overpriced for the condition it’s in. The sand traps were horrible and full of sand spurs. Fairways torn up greens were the only decent part . Paid 50$ wouldn’t be worth 20$ to play
Conditions not bad but I couldn't go 4. Too many dry sandy spots. Greens were slow and furry, need a cut. Tee boxes are a little beat up. Recent rains will help. Overall, a pretty good day.
Disappointing
The layout was good, but it is clearly a course where the budget can no longer support the course they once had. Fairways and roughs had a variety of different grass/weed combinations. Plenty of well positioned but non-maintained bunkers in the fairways and greenside.Not enough income to support the needed budget to maintain the course that is there.
Underwhelming
Clearly a nice layout, but the maintenance budget has been cut to bare bones. Bunkers not maintained. No edging with weeds growing in them. No rakes for patrons to clean up. Mix of grasses throughout the course is a mess. Lawnmowers and maintenance crew is unavailable. I hope they weather the storm.
Great Course!
Excellent course to play and not too complex. Highly recommend recommended.
Maintenance going on
Don't play for a couple weeks. Greens sanded etc. also way too hot!!!!
Bad news
Greens were just aerated and we werent notified at booking. Greens were covered in sand. The first 4 holes we played the sprinklers were on. The fairways show little improvement since last time I played there. Tee boxes the same. What a shame! Course was not really playable.
Picture perfect
Everything about this place has been on the up and up, I tried calling in a reservation on a tuesday morning, apparently that's not the best idea it resulted in getting hung up on. However, other than that everything was great the course is in great shape. Happy to use golf now for my Sunday reservations.
Greens need some work
The tee boxes were just ok, while the fairways were uneven and lumpy. Some greens need urgent help, while others were just passable. The Course was good value based on the conditions
Course in pretty good condition
Need to put water with a little bit of cleaner in the ball cleaners tru out the course

Silverthorn is a great layout. The course with our recent rains is starting to come back into shape. Greens for the most part are in nice condition. Fairways are a little thin but getting better with rain. Most tee boxes are good but a few need some work. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Give it a try. Its a nice course.
Return to glory
Course is getting back into shape. Greens are nice. Fairways are grassing up nice. Rain should help it grow in / fill in. Grateful that the water coolers were all filled up to hydrate 👍
