Just looking to join the course tried to get the forms yesterday at course but the man at pro shop said it had to be requested on line, and I can’t seem to find it on the internet any advice?
hot memorial day
played with 3 members who are regulars, thanks to them for allowing me to play golf with them.
River Forest long on scenic value
The Club at River Forest is a spectacular course chock-full of scenic, as well as shot, value. Situated about 30 minutes north of Macon, prepare for drastic elevation changes.
There are so many memorable holes, but the stretch that plays around a small lake on the back nine leave a lasting impression. It begins with the par-5 10th that tumbles downhill, reminiscent of a ski slope. I was told by my playing partners that they have seen perfect drives that find a speed slot when it is playing firm and fast that can leave less than 150 yards into the green in two. Mere mortals will layup and have a 100-yard wedge into a green fronted by water. The covered bridge that takes you to the green is an excellent touch.
Next, comes the par-3 11th that plays uphill over the same lake. Three holes play back inland before the approach on the par-4 15th plays back across the lake. The par-3 16th plays to a peninsula green that is surrounded on three sides by water.
Other highlights include the opener, which has a cliff wall bordering the right side. The par-4 ninth features a blind tee shot to a fairway that bottlenecks with water on the left of the landing area and in front of a slippery green. The par-4 14th is one of the best holes I've ever played. Longer hitters can attempt to drive the blind green with a towering cut. Most players will hit a mid-iron about 185 yards, then take a 90-degree turn and flip a wedge down the hill. It is a fantastic hole with options and dramatic views.
The bent grass greens were terrific.

A hidden gem
Played on 9/28/17. Greens has been recently aeriated and top dressed, but still putted well. Great layout and conditions. Very friendly staff. Almost nobody there. A first-class facility in every way. If you can get a shot at playing (1/2 hour south of Atlanta, just off of I-75), take it. I was very impressed and had a good round. Some great driving holes, risk-rewards if you can cut the corner.
Great course with great golf staff
This course is usually always in great shape! the greens are bent grass and the greenskeepers does a great job keeping them in good shape.
Very nice club
The conditions of this course are excellent almost all the time. Fairways are great, traps are fair, Bermuda rough long enough to cause trouble. Bent greens are temperamental. When they are good they are terrific; heat can be an issue of course but the keeper will let them get a little fuzzy to compensate. Always very soft. Some really beautiful holes. A Canongate winner.
Lot's of water
great GPS Carts. a well kept secret, a CanonGate property.
