Beginner course only
If you are a beginner this is a perfect course for you. Fairways are very hard, not the best maintained but for $30.with a cart not that bad.
Not the best
Played here on a deal discount. $30.00 for 18 with cart. Would not pay any more than that. Fairways were rock hard and dry. Greens were beat up. Course was not marked very well. Glad to say I played here. May come again with discount.
Decent Enough
Very dry in fairways. We are in a drought though. Around the greens were better, and greens were not fast/ not slow.
Love the layout
The course is not well maintained but I enjoy the hilly layout, hard to find at o und here. There seem to be quite a few occasional players so watch out for balls flying from all directions. Reasonably priced.
Great course for the price
I only had time to play the front 9 but I enjoyed it. Nice layout, well maintained older course. Greens were in good shape but hard to get a read on the speed. Some greens felt soft and soggy and others hard as a rock. Overall a nice place for the money and well worth it.
Potential
I'm 3 years in. 10-15 handicap. This course is great for first time golfer who needs a forgiving course. Greens are pretty bad, but they do update their hole locations accordingly. With the price, you can't really complain. You may get stuck behind some hacks who are unaware of golf etiquette.
Poor conditions
Course was rock hard. Even fairways were awful. Invest in sprinklers. Half the greens had dirt patches. Not worth the money. What happened to this course. Played it years ago and was a top notch course
Horrible management
Me and a buddy had a tee time for 10am Saturday morning, we played through 9 holes in almost 3 hours. The pace of play of the players in front of us was terrible. I have never played a round of golf this slow in my life. By the time we hit the 9th tee box there was a foursome teeing off with another twosome behind them and then us. That is just ridiculous having 3 different groups waiting on the tee box of one hole. That wasn’t the only time this happen it happened again on the 15th tee, except there were 4 groups sitting waiting to tee off. Back to the 9th hole, some old man that was one of the employees walked across the tee box in front as I was in my back swing. What kind of sane person does this, a 5 year old would know better not to do that. Not only was the pace terrible the sand traps were hard, fairways were like hitting off of concrete, greens were covered in divots. The course layout is another thing, the placement of the many hills on this course is awful most of them are either in front of the tee box so you can’t see the group in front of you, or they are before the greens an do you have no idea where you are hitting your next shot at, it’s like a blind guessing game you just gotta hope for the best. After this experience I will not be returning anytime soon to Chapel Hill golf course.
Course in need of watering
the fairways were brown or bare and a number of greens were burnt out in sections. It was very cheap to play, so I guess I didn't expect a lot to begin with.
Good little old school track
Perfect 18 holes for higher handicap and beginners. Took my girlfriend and had a nice time. Very affordable. We will play this course again based on value alone.
Don’t play here
Wouldn’t play here again if it was free. Course conditions were awful, cracked greens, you couldn’t tell where the fairway began and the rough started was like playing in someone’s backyard . Was utter chaos, took 5 hours to play with a 2 some due to groups of 5 and people walking and hitting off our fairway and off our forward tees without waiting for us to tee off first.
Colored Balls
Chapel Hill is not a pristine course in any way but I found it a fun course to play. The rolling hills throughout the course gives it some character . Use colored balls as it will be easier to find your ball after hitting it over the hills. If I lived closer I would play here more often. I will return just not sure when
